Jade waterslide

I understand they are in the process of dismantling the waterslide for the music charter groups in February. Does anyone know if they will put it back during dry dock? I know they never replaced the one on the Pearl. If they don't put it back, I know several kids that will be very disappointed during their spring break!

Just got back from a week on the Jade, and I sincerely doubt those slides are ever coming back. They were working on them with power saws and blow torches, sometimes into the wee hours of the night. Not sure how the deck space will be reclaimed after the last vestiges are gone (should be this week, if last week's progress was any indication), since you can't just plop deck chairs onto that space.

Wish we would have known this before we booked. We knew it was going into dry dock, but did not read anything about the slides being permanently removed. Too late to change plans now. Thanks for your input.

NCL should be compensating those experiencing the removal work and future cruises without this feature ☹️

After all , it is not that they removed shuffle boards , slides are a important feature on cruise ships nowadays [emoji924]

I sure hope everyone sailing on the Jade has a better time than we did on the January 3rd cruise. Dismantled slide, closed pool, skipped Key West, left port late (no bon voyage) and returned to Tampa early, closed Casino early several times, on and on. Everything you thought you signed up for and paid for was changed or taken away. Sailed on 5 other NCL ships and had an incredible time but this was miserable. I realize you can't control weather but some of these things were inexcusable. I'm definitely rethinking my future cruises. Good luck.

Don't feel too bad, the slide was not good any way. People including my 8 yr old got stuck on it every time.

.

We were on the Jade for the Jan 3 cruise too, with three children. Not good! My daughter and I both wrote to NCL about all the issues, the removal of the slide and closing the children's pool. I also think there might have been an illness on the ship too, as my daughter, her husband, and all three of her children became ill while on the cruise. They had vomit bags located by all the elevators. I came across a lot of people complaining about illness too. I still haven't received a response from Norwegian since I contacted them. I have been on the Getaway and the Escape, which I absolutely loved. We had two balcony cabins, UDP, and the UBP, so we spent quite a bit of money for a one port cruise.

You still have not read anything about the slides being permanently removed. What you read is someone's guess about something that they know nothing about stated as fact when it doesn't even rise to the level of a rumor.

No it seems to be true. I have seen several post from different individuals who are on or where on the Jade. It seems as though they dismantled the slide to build a stage for the music cruises. I don't imagine that they will put it together for the March 6th cruise before it goes into drydock. I seriously hope that they don't start dismantling anything else to get a jump on the drybock. I just think that they should let you know about things like this. Change of itinerary due to weather or mechanical failure is a little different.

Just off yesterday. The slide is down. The pools are open, and they just put lounge chairs in where the slide was. The Jade is doing the music charter cruises that the Pearl usually does( the Pearl has no slide either). The Pearl will be dry dock before the the Jade.

It wasn't a big slide. So I can't imagine not being there would be a big deal. Nice for sure. But a game changer, surely not. If someone could spend 5 minutes on it total, I'd surprised.

Weather it has a slide again is based on what ship will continue to do the music charters in the future. The slides restrict the view of the people on the pool deck, and deck above to the stage. So the slide won't be coming back to that ship.

They make s ton of money on those cruises. Cruise fares are high, and usually, no promo's like UBP are offered.

Just to be clear- taking the slide down while we were cruising, by itself, wasn't the main problem. It was everything else put together that made things miserable. The pool was shut down and drained and our view was of the workmen and the dumpster.

We were on the Jan. 3 cruise. Not only were they dismantling the waterside but they also closed the kids pool and half of the deck. We expressed concern and Norwegian customer service (got our letter back today) basically said "tough luck." I don't trust companies that do business like that :-(

I was there and I completely agree with you!
