Rare whitshel Posted January 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2017 It's been about 10 years since we've been to Costa Maya, when we went we had a great day at "The Cats Meow". We're going back this August, does anyone know if thats still around or what may have taken its place? Here's those same girls now. :D
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Sorry, It blew away with Hurricane Dean back in the fall of 2007. As did Cha chi's next tot he port. Never reopened. Much missed. Lots of new places in and out all along the malecon. Best bet is to look up Tropicante for similar experience.

Loucat Posted February 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2017 The Cat's Meow was our favorite Cost Maya place pre hurricane Dean. The owner was Canadian and carried her gorgeous cat around her resort. Good food, laid back with your table and chairs in the water. Dean was a Category 5 in 2007 and destroyed Mahajual including that vast pier. Many pics were posted for years by those who cared about the port, the people and rebuilding. It took years to rebuild. You can still see the scars when you look into the vegetation and see all of the dead tree trunks. All there were lucky to survive but it had to be a horrendous experience as building codes could not stand up to a storm of this magnitude. Last post I read was that the owners returned to Canada. The area has rebuilt as part of the Malecon. We treasure our Cats Meow T shirts! I think the owner's name was Barbara. Special memories of a special place.
