Amber cove shops

Could someone please confirm....just read from a recent review that is there are not more than 1 ship in port....that all the stores are CLOSED!!!!!...IF THIS IS THE CASE....I JUST REVIEWED THE AMBER COVE SCHEDULE AND WE ARE THE ONLY SHIP IN PORT THAT DAY....THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!

We were there in August and were the only ship in port. All stores were open.

We were just there in December on the Conquest and all the shops were open, not that it was a big deal. Not much to buy but the same shops in every other port, with the exception of the local vendors.

 

Just spend the day at the pool or go in to Puerto Plata.

If it was the review with the Fathom cruise, it is true for that ship only. That ship is carrying folks who are doing volunteer work not shoppers.

We just sailed 1/14. They were all open. Bring cash for bargains. Bring your passport to get is stamped for fun. Great zip line cheap for unlimited, and big pool.

OCD, obsessive cap disorder? IMHO you are not missing anything with the shops. We were specifically looking for a Citizen watch and knew U.S prices. We found the watch in Cozumel and did not pull the trigger at $225. The exact same watch was $275 at Amber Cove. We found it in St.Thomas for $220 and bought it. We thought everything was overpriced at Amber Cove. The pool, zip line, and cafe are very nice.
