cowboygene Posted January 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Have not been assigned a cabin yet, however, the E Docs have a GTY designation...any significance to that? Thanks
TrumpyNor Posted January 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Have not been assigned a cabin yet, however, the E Docs have a GTY designation...any significance to that? Thanks GTY stands for "Guaranty" - meaning that you have paid for and are guaranteed a certain cabin category, where you will be assigned your cabin no. at a later time. packer99 Posted January 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2017 GTY means you booked a guaranteed cabin. This means, for a cheaper rate, you are letting the cruise line pick your cabin. You probably wont know what cabin it is until the cruise gets closer.
Rare BirdTravels Posted January 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Have not been assigned a cabin yet, however, the E Docs have a GTY designation...any significance to that? Thanks GTY=Guaranteed room If you are lucky, you will get a room assignment quickly. If you are not lucky, you will show up to the port without a room assignment and get it at checkin. Maybe an upgrade. Maybe a room behind a lifeboat next to a club with thumping walls until 3 am.
casofilia Posted January 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2017 "You pays your money and takes your chance". WYS is not necessarily WYG. If the type you have chosen is filling up then you may be lucky with an upgrade, if not you will get what's left.
