Car rental in Juneau

I'm not seeing anywhere other than the airport to pick up/drop off a rental. Does anyone have experience with this?

 

Is there any way to pick up/drop off at the cruiseport?

there's a thread on the next page about a new downtown location for AVIS coming soon. (The hotel they were in previously was remodeled and changed hands so they lost that location)

We're renting our car at the Juneau airport. Is it a big deal to get there? Can't we just take a cab or something over to the airport to pick it up?

I called Juneau Car Rental Company this week and rented a car for our May cruise. They don't charge your credit card till you turn the car in. The lady was very nice that I talked to. The car will be at a different dock than our ship but she said we could walk to dock A from dock D I believe or take a free shuttle at the port. I understand they are older cars but clean. Less expensive than some of the other places and you don't have to pay a taxi to take you to the airport to pick up a car.

When there is a ship at the AJ Dock there will be a bus that goes back and forth from there to the tram all day. Juneau Car Rental is 1 block from the AJ Dock which is about 1 mile to the tram. Last year the fee was $3 from the dock to the tram and free back to the dock.

From what I saw on the internet, the Carnival Legend will be the only ship there till later in the day. How long will it take to walk to Juneau Car Rental from dock D I believe.

15-20 minutes. It's fairly flat, not a bad walk....unless it pouring down rain. You'll be able to take the bus back if you don't want to walk it.
