I ordered $2000 worth of cards from Allstate in the last 2 months.  I don’t understand the advantage of e cards.  Can you explain please?

We're leaving Friday on a cruise and if they were e-cards I'd order them now. I wanted to know the mailing time on the regular cards so I can plan that they don't try and deliver them until we get back.

If I order the larger cards UPS signature required. Ordered Monday delivered Friday, ordered Tuesday delivered Saturday. The 100 dollar cards come usps so proably much longer and unpredictable.

USPS is way too risky for me. Our mail delivery is very questionable here sometimes. I order the bigger ones just so it will be sent UPS. I really wish they would get more ecards. I joined AARP to alleviate this problem for the most part.

Dumb question. Is there a lag between signing up as a non-customer in the app and being able to sign into the rewards site via browser?

I signed up in the app, enabled GPS and all that. I headed over to the rewards site, and it’s telling me “We can't match what you entered with our records. Please double check your answers and try again”.

Unfortunately Allstate rewards is a very quirky website. Doing things like address change or password change are difficult. I was only able to change password by using the " forgot password" link. I moved last year and there is no way short of calling that I can find to change my address. You might want to try and log in using a private or incognito mode to try and log in on a browser. This will maybe get you into the site. The way their website works with cookies causes log in problems. If you log in then log out and try to go back in before closing your browser you will get odd message telling you to download app and log in from there. Closing browser and reopening takes care of that. Not sure if that is your situation though.

Other than not having to wait for them to be delivered, you also aren't paying a shipping fee. Not that the shipping fee is going to break the bank, but they charge for each card and that takes away from the discount.

A few years ago, Carnival became very weary of e-gift cards. I think there was problems with fraudulent cards floating around. So they insisted on "verifying" them before adding them to S&S accounts, and claimed it took 24 hours to verify. But I think they've stopped doing that. Plus, a lot of people have said e-cards can finally be added using the kiosks on most of the ships (if not all), so that makes it much easier.

Also, if you have a Chase card, check your offers to see if you have one for AARP.  I had one a while back that gave me $8 back, so I only paid $4 for my membership.  I have an offer right now but it only gives 5% back.

I gave in and joined AARP for 5 years for 63 dollars and got back 8 from BofA for a rebate with their cc.

I know it's still several months away, but I've also seen them offer a membership discount on Black Friday. Prior to my recent renewal, I got 3 years for $30 from their Black Friday sale.

Everything that n6uqqq said. Also, I had a heck of a time logging in today. Kept getting a blank white screen and one time it took me to a login screen that I've never seen before. After 3-4 tries, clearing site cookies each time, I finally got in.

Just a reminder of the games we can now play on Allstate Rewards to win points. There's 3 games available today. The memory game (every Wednesday) for 3k points. The Earth day crossword puzzle, which is a bit tricky because the words aren't in a straight line. They zig-zag (but not diagonal). And spinning the wheel, available once/day. That thing's rigged, though. I got 3 strikes today. It spins just enough to make it back around to the only strike on the wheel. I swear it speeds up or slows down to hit the strike.

Can you use points to purchase gift cards?

I wanted to prepay my gratuities for an October cruise.  It gives me the option on the Carnival site now, but only gives me credit card or paypal.  Has anyone found a way to do it with the gift card?  I am sure I can call my travel agent to do it, but wasn't sure if anyone has found a way.

I was able to pay mine with gift cards both on my phone and on my computer. Another poster had this same question on another thread and I suggested clearing cookies or switching browsers. It’s still showing as an option for me on my iPhone and Chrome on laptop.

The points can only be used for the discount, which for Carnival gift cards is generally ten percent.  You have to pay for the remaining ninety percent of the gift card with your credit or debit card.

So does it no longer add gratuities onto the overall balance of the cruise?? Then just use gift cards to pay down the balance.

May 1st gratuities go up.  My final payment isn't due until July.   I wanted to avoid the increase,  so I have paid for everything that is going up (Cheers, internet, steakhouse).  I always tip more when on board,  so gratuities going up won't bother me.  I just find it strange that I can only pay with credit card or PayPal,  when everything else I could pay for with GC.

Just to try to dispel an on-going question, I have been using e-cards from AARP on the last few cruises Dec 2021, Feb 2022 and April 2022) and have had no problem or issue entering them onboard at a kiosk.  Put in the number and PIN and immediate credit.  No verification.  I recommend doing the kiosk and avoiding guest services. I have used cards to pay for the cruise at booking and for prepurchase of beverage packages too.   I encourage the use of e-cards from Allstate rewards, AARP or such reputable sites.

since the onboard credit with a gift card goes to your account and you can charge casino play to your account, it is a helpful way to save 10% on your gambling.
