dining package and reservations

Ok, we have not sailed Royal in quite some time and I have searched but cannot locate how to make the dinner reservations. I keep putting the dining package in my shopping cart for the 5 night option, but then when I make a reservation, it charges me the individual price for the restaurant I selected. HELP! What am I doing wrong?

You just book the package. You can't make reservations until you are on board.

so how hard is it going to be to get decent dining times on board?

is it cheaper to buy the drink package ahead of time or is it the same price on board? we are on the fence.

We've never had a problem in making our reservations the first day when we board. Drink package unless you are Diamond or above is cheaper through the cruise planner.

last question since you are so fast! We had intended to do the dining package in order to guarantee a table for 2 and make our reservations so once on board we didn't have any thing to do except relax. Our one and only Royal cruise before this is the only cruise (of more than 20) where the Maitre D on the first day was unable (or unwilling) to accommodate us. If we can't make the dinner reservations on the package ahead of time, can we still go to the Maitre d on board and request a table for 2?

At a specialty restaurant you are never seated with others.
