.................. or is just an error on the technical sheet?

Here's a link to Skier Pete's post which has begun a discussion on the subject on the MSC Seaside/Seaview YC Inside Cabins thread. As Pete's post relates to the Meraviglia technical sheet it merits its own thread.

The YC insides will be small, meaning no full scale dining table to truly enjoy room service, for instance. Apart from the unpacking service for those who would go for it, I don't see how much added value a butler would bring in the context.

Surely they know the total number of cabins there are going to be, Dave (I know ............. don't call you Shirley :p)

Also, why insert "suites with butler service" on the page pertaining to YC?

And, third: isn't it a bit coincidental, as Pete points out, that there are 15 inside cabins and 80 others?

There's no full scale dining table in YC cabins as it is, and the room service menu is the same as the rest of the ship i.e. soup & sandwiches basically.

Also, there's more to having a personal butler than bringing food and unpacking. We had a fantastic one on Preziosa who made sure we had everything we needed and went over and above to provide great service. In fact, we met him on Divina when we weren't in YC and he offered to assist us if we needed it! On the same cruise, the head butler did the same as we had previously sailed in Divina's YC a few weeks before.

the YCIN are 16 sq. m. (172 sq. ft.) the YC1 are 24 sq. m. (258sq. ft.) to 28 sq. m. (301 sq. ft.).

They will clean your shoes, deliver a daily newspaper at ~07:30, escort you to your excursion bus, deliver drinks to your cabin, set up for a party (if you want one), bring a pizza to your cabin ( from the pay for pizzeria on board) and a whole host of other tasks, you just have to ask for what you want at any time of the day.

Ah okay, there's plenty of added value then, lol. You got me curious since I'm booked on a YC inside in September, I sent an email to MSC Belgium to see what they say.

................. escort you to the theatre on Gala night to the area reserved for YC guests on the night, and to the dining room on your first evening, though that probably won't be needed on the new-builds as the restaurant will be in the YC enclave, unlike the Fantasia class YC restaurants, where it would make sense to be shown how to get to it.

Alice ... Call me Shirley by all means lol.

It may have been that the YC insides may not have been part of the original design and were added at a later date.

If you look at the early model of Seaside and the current one there have been a number of changes to the actual ship itself which are quite visible, the angle of the pool deck has been altered where it meets the main body of the ship, there are now two zip lines which are not on the original, the deck 9 long side balconies were not on the original renderings, the two handicapped cabins on deck 10 appear to have been taken out. The original model also has a set of double cabins from deck 10 to 15 which no longer exist. No doubt there are and will be many others before the ship leaves the yard.

I'll bet this was the case

It's the insertion of "number of suites with Butler Service ............... 80" which raises the main question for me - why not just state "number of suites in the enclave" if butler service is provided to all suites in YC?

If my memory serves me well, there was a thread earlier this year talking about duplex suites that were outside the Yacht Club. Maybe the "with butler service" specification is trying to differentiate from those? Hopefully the YC insides will get the whole Shebang.

I really hope so! It's on the specific Yacht Club page of the technical sheet, though. I'd like to think that those who've booked inside YC cabins will have this clarified by MSC before their cruise. I had considered booking a YC inside but will wait until there's a definitive answer on this.

Your right, we will just have to wait for the inaugural cruise reports to clarify. I still say that it would be absolutely absurd and detrimental (to the MSC YC brand) to the point that "why would you bother" booking a YIN cabin if you don't get 100% of the YC Experience. We booked ours like everybody else with the complete understanding (from all the MSC YC propaganda that has been released about the new Meraviglia Class) that it was with the full YC experience.

If I am wrong, ill shout the bar on the 19th June.... LOL :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Stealthy .................... I've just noticed something interesting in the 'Privileges' list:

  • 24-hour room service (delivery is free)

Looks like there will be a charge for the menu items - if so, that's new to me. I've ordered from the menu without being charged when I was in YC on Preziosa in 2014.

We've recently been on Fantasia in a YC1 cabin. Don't think there were any insides in the YC. However, all cabins are marketed as suites but if you are in a YC1 don't expect a huge cabin. Ours was no bigger than a balcony cabin on P&O. The walk in closet was a joke. Service however in the YC is excellent.
