Billing Question

We are going on the Carnival Conquest in May and bringing my husband's best friend. We will have 2 rooms, with 3 people each in it. I'm just wondering if when we buy something on board and it goes on to the room account, will it show who used their card for various things? That way we can keep track of who spent what money and who owes what to the account? (Excursions, souvenirs, drink packages, etc). Just trying to keep it as seemless as possible.

If I understand the situation correctly, you have six people across two cabins all on the same on-board account (and therefore all billing to the same credit card)? If so, each person should have their own folio number and is identifiable on the ships billing records so you will know "who bought what".

Thank you. I wasn't sure how to word it. I am paying for the cruise on my card, and he's reimbursing us for his share of the cruise. I was just concerned with once we are on the ship, at the end when we pay the balance on the room (drink packages, excursions, souvenirs). I just wanted to make sure that on the bill it'll say which person's sail card was used for which purchases.

Or maybe they have a way to have his credit card on file as well?!

Why would you want a "room account"? Better each person be responsible for his/her own purchases' date=' tips etc.[/quote']

If that is something possible then yes, I'd be all for that! I didn't realize they could have 2 different cards on file. That would make it much easier! I just thought everything got charged to the room and not per person.

When you do your check in online you can add different credit cards and add who is allowed to charge to which credit card, etc. 2 of my kids room with my parents and when I set up the charge account I set up my parents credit card so they both charge to the same one and I add the kids, even though they are in a different cabin, to my account.

1. On the billing statement the charges will be separated by folio number, very easy to see who's spending what.

2. During online check in, you have the option of who will be charged to your credit card. At that time you can opt out your friend. When he does his online checkin he'll use his info.

Actually you generally do not "pay" the bill at the end of the cruise, you receive your billing statement. During the cruise if the account has OBC, Carnival gift cards, or cash deposited to it any purchases made against it on any linked Sail-n-Sign cards will immediately be deducted, it's kind of like a debit account. If a debit or credit card is put on file, first a test charge based on the number of cabins and length of the cruise is made to insure the card is active. Then during the cruise if the average daily spending seems high additional test charges will be made to insure the card's limit can handle the final payoff. On the final night on board the entire balance on the account will trigger a request for payment from the credit card company. If any of the test charges fail or if over the limit of the card then you will be directed to the customer service desk to settle out by other means. BTW try not use debit cards most banking TOU & regulations make this complicated and cause overdraft situations very easily.

As for each person having their own account you can do this while doing your online check-in or at the check-in counter at the cruise terminal. There is no need for everyone in the same cabin to be on the same room account, each can be responsible for their own on board finances. During the online check-in all that needs to be done is after you input your preferred funding method for the S-n-S account is to designate who is allowed to post charges to that account or if they will need to set their own account info up. The separate or joint accounts can be edited right up to the last full day aboard. Also the S-n-S account(s) can have mixed funding, so if you input a credit card during the online process you can always add cash or gift cards to the account during the cruise by visiting the GS desk or a kiosk. If you decide to allow a friend or a minor to be part of your charging privileges you are accepting financial responsibility for them while on board and can set a cruise long limit on their spending. If they wish to exceed that "allowance" the person can deposit cash, Carnival GCs, or another card to be used on their account only.

It is possible to reduce on board spending before boarding the ship. As part of your online Cruise Manager you can prepay for drink packages, in room liquor, excursions, spa treatments, some logo souvenirs, in cabin party foods, and the daily auto-gratuities.Just look under Activities and Gifts on your Things To Do list.

Thank you very much for the information. Am I able to put a cash deposit on the account at the beginning of the cruise so that way I don't have to worry about it? I plan on prepaying the gratuity, excursions and drink packages before the trip, but then as far as incidentals like souvenirs on board, or an occassional alcoholic beverage, we would have that prepaid by cash? I don't want any last minute charges or be able to use too much on accident!

When you check in online, you can register your credit card and decide if anyone else in your cabin will have the ability to charge to it as well. I would strongly suggest that each person provide their own credit card to avoid any issues at the end of the cruise. Every single person should be able to use their own credit card for on board charges like gratuities, excursions, bar drinks, shops, casino, etc. I would NEVER put my credit card up for anyone outside of my husband and any of our 3 grown adult children.
