Cozumel construction

We have been to Cozumel several times over the years and have enjoyed walking around the central square. However, the last time we were there it was very difficult because of paving stones being replaced and streets torn up. Has this work been finished?

Yes the revitalization of the square is done. If you ask me we feel it's taken away from the charm of the area. A lot of the shops just off the square are closing up because they can't afford the new rent and taxes they are being charged to cover the cost. We know several of the shop owners as we spend 10 days there every January and they say none of the merchants are happy

We were just there a few months ago. I have mixed feeling about the renovation. It does take away from the charm but on the other hand, we sat and watched the dancing fountains for about 45 minutes one night and a lot of local were enjoying the show as well. We've been going a few block away from the square to shop for a few years.
