Just of Carnival Vista

Just of the Vista from an 8 day, I was super disappointed. Carnival has missed the target, having only 2 pools available until 7pm when the Havana pool opens to the "public". Think about it, this ship holds 1300-1500 more than a Conquest class ship and has only 2 pools. Epic fail in my opinion. This ship also has 4 more bars than any other ships, but they do not staff anymore bar staff on the ship. One day on Lido there was only the Redfrog bar open with 2 bartenders......no bar waiters on the decks. Awful!! Back to the Dream class or Conquest class for me. This was my 24 cruise on Carnival. In addition the Vista does not have glass elevators in the atrium so it is a net loss of 2 elevators for a ship that holds 800-1,200 more than the Conquest or Dream class

In our 35+ cruises I have never counted bars, you must have been bored. How do you know what the bar staffing is, on Vista or any other ship? Oh, do you normally spend a lot of time on the elevators? I guess the future ships of Carnival are not for you, for us, the Vista was the best we have been on. No mention of anything except common space, how was the rest of the cruise?

It is well known around these parts that public spaces have been drastically reduced.

Surprising about bar staff as that does generate revenue.

I am sorry your vista experience did not live up to your expectations. No one likes waiting in lines and as Americans we want everything right now and fast. But even though waiting frustrated me on several occasions I would never let it ruin my vacation. Also the pool situation is one of personal preference. Personally I hate swimming so if they added more pools they would have to take some other venue away. I personally would like a bigger casino but I don't complain because not everyone likes to gamble. I think they do a good job overall appealing to everyone's likes and activities. Unfortunately that means that sometimes your preferred activity may be more crowded etc... You are off work, on a cruise, relaxing. I just can't complain...

Lol "well known around these parts" has a John Wayne esque feel to it. While I understand the comment and the post it referred to just fine, common space, especially "open air" space above an atrium is over rated imho. Your opinion may vary......

John Heald actually posted a question on his FB page this week about the glass elevators....

I am sure they have heard the negative feedback about Vista.

I have no desire to cruise on Vista.

Hoping they take that feedback and do it differently on Horizon.:)

It's funny...I scrolled past your name and started reading this reply. Three sentences in I thought to myself, "This has to be Jimbo." It was!

Maybe because the ship is big, but I didn't notice all the crowding. I thought the Vista was an interesting departure from the usual Carnival ships. I liked it. I don't drink so don't care about bars. Maybe I was lucky in that regard.

Lol, I guess I could be known for worse things...... honestly, we felt no more crowded than any other Carnival ship. If fact, she is our fav by a substantial margin.

Let me be more specific than. The trend started with the Sunshine redo and now the Vista.

The main show lounge, comedy club lounge and pb area has been greatly shrunk over the previous Dream class.

I like the glass elevators but more important to us in our cruising is being able to partake in the entertainment.

I understand young points, I doubt they will be changing their current trend in the next two Vista class ships and to be honest the next class either, but that is a ways off. It is pretty clear to me that they believe the smaller venues work well whatever the driving force behind the decision to do it (I might argue the reason I think they are doing it compared to what you think, but that is a moot point). I realize that will not set well with you but to me it's clear that is where they are headed.

If Vista is so crappy why did it get best new cruise ship? Sounds like best new cruise ship for the cruise lines not for the passengers..I have not been on it so I don't have an opinion but it would be a shame if the ship is as bad as people are saying.

Not everyone feels the same way about the ship....

Hey thanks for your review.. the points you have made here are important to me..so while I don't ride elevators or count bars either , public space , ease of getting a drink on the lido and pool side area is what I look for .. so thank you for that.. I will keep my eye out for other reviews .. as a whole all are trying to squeeze more rev .. so it's certainly trending that way.. I too like the conquest class ... btw

I try to weed out other comments that might have ulterior motives , like peeps in the industry who make a living off bookings .. :) again thank your

Once again, a cruiser offers Their opinion of Their cruise and a snarky responder starts to criticize the comments.

This is Not the first time a cruiser has mentioned the lack of elevators on the Vista. It has been mentioned many times. Moving people about on a big ship IS important. And it is also, Not the first time a cruiser on the Vista has complained about bar service.

BINGO! Your last sentence: "I try to weed out other comments that might have ulterior motives, like peeps in the industry who make a living off bookings" is right on target.

Nasty Peeps to say the least. The cruise lines or whoever needs to hire people who can POLITELY address cruisers' comments which reflect negatively on ships, cruising.

Lol, me thinks you have a fairly jaundiced view on whatever "peeps are and their influence and how in the heck that could turn into more money on bookings. Love to hear the rationale on that.

LOL, OK let's play......what the heck is "once again"? I thought all cruisers posted their experience and reflected on others? Is that not the way it works? Did I even mention anything at all about the number of elevators on the Vista? Did I mention anything at all about people moving on a BIG ship? I also mentioned nothing about bar service...for the record. I have sailed on the Vista and have an opinion (which is why I posted to the op's.... How about you?

Do you really believe that the cruise line hires people to comment on CC? Royal used to entice their cruisers to do so, but that was long ago.

There direction is to build bigger ships and cram more cabins in leaving less space for entertainment venues. New cruisers who they market to will not know the difference.

However we are finding more and more that Princess is a better overall value for us and 3 of our next 4 cruises will be there.

I am just back from the Vista 8 day also. I was slightly disappointed in the ship. My main problem was the show lounge. Way too small and awkward seating. You had to go very early and wait a long time to hope to get a good seat. Also I agree with the kack of bar service, particularly on tge serenity deck. But my biggest issue was CHAIR HOGS! On every open deck, it was nearly impossible to get a lounge chair. Also, anytime dining was not a great experience. A table for 2 just meant you had a couple of inches between us and other diners. It was ok, just not ideal. On the plus side, we loved our spa cabin, and Matt Mitcham was an amazing cruise director. All in all, I will return to the Breeze class ships in the future.
