disneyg1rl Posted March 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2017 A lot of things have changed. I can say across the fleet (not specific to Epic): - No more lobster nights (this is a hot topic on Cruise Critic) - Posh/Vibe tickets are more like $100 per person... they do not sell day passes - Lounge chair doesn't fit easily on most (non suite) balconies - No non-Haven guests allowed in Haven area, except in your Haven stateroom
Rare KeithJenner Posted March 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Don't bother putting your keycard in the slot. Just take an old store loyalty card or something similar and leave it in there.

tiger-91 Posted March 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2017 For #16, a true tip would be to stuff your clothes into a plastic bag and compact BEFORE putting into NCL paper bag. You'll get more clothes into the bag, and the paper bag rips easily with too much handling. Also, before stuffing paper bag, write your Latitude level in large letters on the outside, if your level gets you a discount.

My additional tip is that the aft and starboard are color coded - port was red and starboard was blue - elevator buttons and lights, carpets, staircase walls and room numbers on the doors. SquishTheWhale Posted March 3, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 3, 2017 (edited) It's been a year since we sailed her but I can probably still help! My answers are in red I found this list on a 2014 list/ Looking to see how this hold up/ your thoughts Side note: we have yet to sail on her We are on the EBTA April 1st: EpicTips 1.Store your keycard in the pocket by the inside of the stateroom door to turn onthe lights Just use any old card, store card or whatever. I don't get why the key card operated power surprises people, it's like that in most hotels in the UK. Is this not a thing in the US? 2.Dim the phone by pressing the light bulb in the upper right corner of thescreen Yup 3.Do not turn the sink tap on full-blast unless you want to splash yourself We actually found it hard to get the water to swoosh around the sink enough to wash away toothpaste or whatever! there was no splashing at all. 4.Ask the steward for a lounge chair for your balcony Would this even fit unless you had a larger than usual balcony? 5.Bring your own hair conditioner or bar soap (shampoo & body washprovided) 6.Hair dryer is available in rooms (this is the most frequent FAQ on NCL?swebsite) Yes, and it was a decent one 7.Bed pulls out from under the headboard for extra length 8.Extra storage behind couch cushions, and under couch in drawers 9.Curtain separates toilet/shower area in balcony rooms And in insides too 10.Vanity light switch under mirrored medicine cabinet 11.Pool towels in room must be returned to room each day, or $25 charge 12.A power bar seems to be a necessary accessory with only two 120 volt outlets incabins, one Euro 240 volt Only if you have loads of devices 13.Power outlets hidden behind cabinet door under vanity Not hidden inside a cabinet in inside cabin. Just under the TV counter. Two US plugs and 2 Euro plugs 14.Ask the steward to clear your mini fridge if you do not want to be tempted 15.Large basket under vanity intended for wet towels, smaller basket nested insideintended for garbage Just the large basket in our cabin 16.Laundry special on Wednesday for $25 medium size laundry bag I think the laundry specials were $19.99 on our cruise. Offered twice on 10 day cruise 17.You can pay $8 per day for access to Posh private sun deck (only 20 extraslots; free for suite guests) Nope, you must buy a pass for the whole cruise- price depends on length. I think there is around 70 or 80 slots. Not free for suite guests 18.Haven passengers can bring a guest twice to Haven restaurant for $25 each visit 19.Lobster dinner usually served on Monday night in Taste and Manhattan Club Didn't see any lobster offered (except for upcharge which is available every night) 20.Behind-the-scenes tour of ship available for $55 (ask at service desk) 21.Bridge viewing station on deck 13 forward Yes 22.Spa pass $119 for entire cruise (may be more expensive on TA cruise) Changes price depending on length. A bit cheaper to buy in advance via My NCL 23.Free sea sickness pills available at guest services 24.Martini tasting at Shakers, 5 martinis for $20 (may have increased) 25.Deck 14 has overhangs sheltering the balconies 26.Wear thick socks (and shoes of course) and long pants in the Ice Bar 27.Secret covered, outside stairs on the aft corners of the ship behind exit door(not on deck plans) Yes. They don't go the whole height of the ship though. I think it's about deck 9 to 14. 28.Wear shoes on the sundeck or you will burn your feet 29.Monderno (a churrasacaria for meatarians), in a cruel twist for vegetarians, has an amazing salad bar 30.Bowling alleys in both Bliss and O?Sheehans, pool table in O?Sheehans Not in Bliss anymore I don't think? 31.Nintendo Wii on awesome 2 story screen in the Atrium (you will never pry itfrom a kid?s hands) Never saw Wii in the atrium on 10 day cruise 32.Lounges chairs on deck 18 are the least busy Yes, this is the 'secret' sun deck. Lots of loungers in different areas 33.Spa has an aft balcony with lounge chairs and 2 wicker couches Yes 34.Spa towels are in the open, but ask for robes I saw both out when we walked through the spa 35.Epic souvenirs are put on sale on the last day Nope. Only sales were $10 sales on cheap jewellery and hats etc. I wanted an NCL visor so kept waiting for this last day sale but never happened 36.Shaded lounging under the sports deck starboard aft I spent a fair bit of time up here and don't remember there being any shade. There is loungers though 37.Avoid the casino if you cannot tolerate smoke You can't really avoid it as you have to walk through it all the time. I hate smoke and it wasn't a massive issue for us though. One side is smokier than the other 38.A few outside casino tables on the pool deck Never saw this, have no idea where they would be placed?? 39.Secret elevator near Garden buffet on starboard side from decks 15 to 18 Not really secret but yeah not used that much 40.Fat Cats has a good indoor view of the ocean while sailing Isn't this the bar that is the cavern club now? I don't think there was views from there but could be wrong. O'Sheehans has some nice window seats for looking out, but it's noisy in there 41. For gentleman, try getting a hot towel shave at thetraditional barbershop. Tutontow Posted March 3, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 3, 2017 As mentioned port side carpet is red. Starboard is blue. I remember port wine is red, therefore red is port side. As far as forward and aft is concerned, the cabin number start at with the last three numbers ending in 000 and 001 in the front or forward. They get higher as you head towards aft. I have made a promise to my wife and myself to do by best to figure out my way around every ship we sail after cruising on the CCL Sunshine. They have the galley in the middle of the ship so only certain floor go all the way through from forward to aft. It pretty much drove everyone crazy the first couple of days.
