lightbalb2003 Posted March 12, 2017 #26 Share Posted March 12, 2017 1). Avoid rooms on deck 5-- there is a sewage smell for some reason. 2). Buy your drink voucher book online in advance to save on service charge onboard. 3). Skip the Italian Classics show and spend more time at the pool/hot tub that evening unless you can appreciate that kind of music. 4). The Mango gelato is delicious and refreshing. 5). Ask for white self assist debarkation tags earlier in the last day if this is your preferred debarkation style. It took me two trips to guest services and a phone call to get the correct procedure. 6). Avoid the slots in the casino. The worst payouts I have seen at sea. Did much better at Atlantis and money went a lot further.
frenchm Posted March 12, 2017 Author #27 Share Posted March 12, 2017 Thank you Lightbalb! I appreciate these valuable insights! So does the white tags indicate you will take your own luggage off the ship? The hot tub and the mango gelato sound great! Thanks for taking the time to share these great tips! That is correct with the white tags! :) They will leave the colored ones in your room but you can go to guest services and request the white ones to carry your bags off the ship. Just note-- this also means you have to be one of the first people off the ship. (Like 6:45-7AM). On a positive note getting through Customs had no lines and was a breeze! As was getting a Lyft/Uber off the port! :)

I can't agree with this more.. the slots at the casino were horrible.. Only thing that saved me was a straight flush playing ultimate texas holdem. And then, when I went to cash my chips in, they made me feel like a criminal. Verified the chips had been added to my account, then they called the pit boss to make sure I was really the winner, then 2 people had to be called over to verify the payout.. Never had that done at any casino before.
Dolebludger Posted March 16, 2017 #30 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Casinos on ships are generally to be avoided. Payout is unregulated and gambling there is much like flushing your money down the toilet.

I'm a bit of an impulse gambler so was expecting to put a bit of money in the slots but if they're just rigged I won't bother. I've lost enough money in ones that are suppose to pay out 78%. Presumably the table games aren't rigged?

momme224 Posted March 16, 2017 #33 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Can I purchase the all inclusive drink package just for myself or does everyone in the party need to get it? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Beamafar Posted March 16, 2017 #34 Share Posted March 16, 2017 If you're pre-booking then yes if the booking is linked. Once buying the package on-board only those in the same cabin must have it. Sent from my SM-G935F using Forums mobile app
momme224 Posted March 16, 2017 #35 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Thanks. Why is it different? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Beamafar Posted March 16, 2017 #36 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Because the rule is that all members of a party must have the same package and this is enforced shoreside. However, at embarkation, the crew selling the packages don't check to see if your cabin number is linked to others so you can buy it just for your own cabin occupants. This will in no way impact on your party sharing a table in the MDR. Sent from my SM-G935F using Forums mobile app
mom2tcdx2 Posted March 16, 2017 #37 Share Posted March 16, 2017 They do not enforce the buying of packages across all cabins. The bookings aren't quite linked for them to know what others are purchasing. We have our sailing Saturday. and we have all bought something different and we are in 4 cabins all linked together. When someone logs into their booking online, they can purchase whatever they like. It only links those on the booking to buy the package. Everyone bought their stuff at different times and not every cabin bought the drink packages.
momme224 Posted March 17, 2017 #38 Share Posted March 17, 2017 Ok good to know! My husband is not a drinker... not even soda. Drinks water, seltzer and iced tea. So this helps! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
