Oatmeal

Recommended Posts

Not sure what Carnival serves, but oatmeal on RC in the Windjammer buffet is in the soup containers in the morning. There is usually oatmeal, grits and hot milk available to ladle out. Toppings are right there - usually brown sugar, almonds/walnuts, raisins/dried cranberries, etc.

Oatmeal is also available in MDR with similar toppings. The MDR buffet has more selection in terms of toppings. If you order oatmeal they usually bring with sides of brown sugar, nuts and raisins. Waiter will add hot milk, if you wish.

I'm confused. Is there a buffet within the main dining room? If so, what is available on it? And, does the whole table have to either do buffet OR be served? Or can some choose to be served, while others eat off the buffet?

Some at your table can do buffet while others order off of the menu. You can also do both menu and buffet if you want to (eggs benedict from menu and fresh fruit from buffet). In my opinion the buffet in the MDR is better than the Windjammer for both breakfast and lunch. Plenty of options to choose from without the chaos.

We really enjoyed the MDR for breakfast on Freedom There was a buffet set up with items like bacon, sausage, hash browns, French toast, pancakes, breads/pastries, fruit, muesli (and more). There was also a menu to order from that had plated options. We usually ate a combination of buffet items and those ordered. The atmosphere is calmer than the buffet. You may be seated with other guests, unless you specifically ask not to be.

Here is a video of the MDR Breakfast on Oasis:

Quick question about breakfast on Freedom of the Seas: Could you please comment about the relative availability of "good" bagels (read: New York-style bagels, not the cakey kind of bagels we have here in Georgia) and gravlox/smoked salmon?

Each person can individually choose the buffet and/or being served off the menu.
