Smoking on the Dream?

I have cruised extensively and this is my first on Carnival. I read Tour Lady's recent review of the Dream where she mentioned there was a lot of smoking everywhere. I know there is smoking in the casino and in designated areas. Are there lots of smoking areas onboard or does Carnival just not enforce this and look the other way when people smoke in non smoking areas? I am looking forward to this cruise and hope the "smoke everywhere" is not an issue. Thanks.

There are usually two designated areas on each ship for smoking, both outside. Smoking is not allowed anywhere else except the casino. Unless your cabin is directly above the smoking area, I don't see how the outdoor smoking would bother someone. The casino can be a problem for some when the traffic path goes right down the middle of it and there's no way to avoid it. When most people complain about smoke, they're usually referring to the casino. If it really bothers you that much even to walk quickly through the casino, it might be a good idea to check deck plans and layouts of ships before booking. Also, the designated outdoor smoking areas are listed on Carnival's site for each ship, so that tells you what to avoid as well.

We were on the Dream in January, had a balcony stateroom on deck 7 and a couple of times I did smell a little cigarette smoke. Wasn't sure if it was someone smoking on their balcony (they're not supposed to, but some still do unfortunately) or if it was wafting up from the lanai on deck 5 where there is a smoking section. It wasn't bothersome and I didn't smell it often. I did walk through the casino several times and the smoke smell was quite strong in there. We aren't gamblers so never spent any time in the casino. But other than that I don't think there was "smoke everywhere." I think they have improved on the smoking areas, and not allowing it indoors except for the casino has really been great.

We were on the dream in jan and the smokers in our group had to go to deck 5 on one side of the ship , deck 11 toward the back or the casino. We were standing under a balcony one night and an long ash fell onto my husbands arm. He looked up and said i didnt think they could smoke up there, i guess someone didnt get the memo.

Or more likely, someone ignored the memo.

Vista has a nice smoking area, midship starboard side with chairs and footstools so you can watch the movie while smoking and it's also covered in case of rain. Also deck 11 aft and deck 5 midship (all starboard side) as well as the casino of course.
