Hello, we have in the past cruised with RCI but considering trying Carnival.

Are the gratuities included in Australian pricing or are they additional? If additional, what is the current daily rate? Many thanks for your help

If I am not mistaken, I've read that there is no tipping on Australian cruises. Here's a snippet of an article here on CC:

"Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend are two American ships that underwent an "Aussification" program, which included abolishing compulsory gratuities. CCL Australia's vice president Jennifer Vanderkreeke said: "Tipping is not part of the culture for Australians and we respect that.""

Again, I guess it depends on your ship but I am just guessing on this. I am sure someone with more insight/experience will comment.

Just came back from a 5 week land vacation in both Australia and New Zealand, and tipping is generally not the norm in either country. Salaries are higher for service workers there, generally starting about $17/hr, so tipping is not expected. We were told that if we received EXCEPTIONAL service we could consider giving a 5 to 10% cash tip to a waiter or tour guide. In several hotels, we found the cash we left on the bed for the room service was put on a night stand.

This went against our New York custom of automatically including a 15 to 20% gratuity for most service workers.

Yes, tips are included in the Australian price of a cruise. On cruises booked in North America tips are added to your account on the ship.
