pharmdawg Posted November 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2005 I have learned a lesson. 2 years ago I paid $90 to stay at the Hyatt in June pre-cruise. Now trying to find anything in Miami (preferably around the port) is almost impossible. I really don't want to pay $340 for 1 night in the same hotel I paid $90. I did not realize the time of year made that much difference. I am open to staying around the airport or anywhere else in Miami where the rate would be $149-ish or less that is not too far from the port (so the cab ride won't be so much!) and the hotel has a decent restaurant or is close to something decent to eat. Any suggestions? Am I being to picky? or too cheap?
BlueHerons Posted November 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2005 pharmdog, I would book a cancellable backup and start checking web prices about every other day. That is peak season in Miami and prices will reflect this. You may or may not get anything off priceline. Have you checked South Beach prices? There may be a convention going on in downtown that is driving up prices.
pharmdawg Posted November 17, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 17, 2005 that someone showed up for their reservation at a hotel (having used priceline) and ran into some flak because they brought their 2 kids. I'll be traveling in a party of 4 including 2 kids. Maybe I need to be educated on how to use priceline.
BlueHerons Posted November 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2005 Oops, sorry no, I wouldn't try priceline with four people. While plenty have successfully done so, wouldn't you hate to be the exception? Hotwire has two and three stars for four people in downtown Miami and Coral Gables/Coconut Grove from $117-$154 for your dates. Make sure you search for four people. TrentS Posted November 17, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2005 There is more than one MIA airport area Holiday Inn... If you're referring to the one in Miami Springs you'll want to avoid that one. It's not a nice place, and not in a nice neighborhood. I haven't been in Sofitel in some time, but it's in a much better area and was a very nice place the last time I was in it. The Blue Lagoon area where Sofitel is located is the only MIA airport area that I like myself. These are all nice hotels in that area as well...
