It's nice if you can drive to the port or if you're a newbie that does not mind being on older, smaller ships with less amenities.

Nothing wrong with older, smaller ships.

I don't need rock walls, jumbotrons or any of the other geegaws.

Best cruises ever were on the Carnivale or the old "little white ships" of NCL.

I have my 18th, 19th & 20th cruise booked and I love the smaller ships! Definitely NOT a newbie!

That's why they make vanilla and chocolate. There are exceptions, but for the most part, the short cruises are for those that can drive to the port, those that want a quick booze cruise type getaway and those that want to sample a cruise for the first time.

Nowadays, it's the larger, newer vessels that I prefer, but I still have not cruised yet on any of RCI's behemoths.

I prefer the smaller ships. Easier to get to know your fellow passengers and to navigate the ship. My hubby has mobility issues and the smaller ships allows us to move around the ship with a little more ease. I don't need all of the new stuff they're putting on the ships now. Don't get me wrong, the newer larger ones are nice.
