3Blessings Posted March 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2017 Are there any beaches that are good for shelling and/or sea glassing? I like to find one beach on a trip where I can find some treasures. Thanks!

Rare crewsweeper Posted March 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2017 You can't bring shells you find on the beach back. You can bring back ones you buy Well, you can, or at least people do. It's prohibited for the area considered the National Marine Park which is basically the entire west side from Park Royal to around El Mirador on the east side up past Bob Marley's and around where the blow holes are. But people have found sea glass along the south downtown water front and there are conch shells south of Playa Palancar where they get dumped (not considered protected if dumped empty). On the East side, if you can get to the water, you might find coral and some shells or flotsam up from the south. North of Mescalitos (which is at the intersection of the east side road and the transversal road across the island to San Miguel, people have found coral, sea glass and shells in the past. Takes a bit of looking anywhere you go. Your return to the ship and through US Customs issue is whether or not you declare shells found and lo and behold there's a remains of the original occupant in side. Also, larger pieces of coral may be considered contraband. But small ornament type pieces can usually get through in your beach bag or checked luggage.
