Hi all. I want to make sure I understand correctly about WIFI calling.

I have IPhone 6 through Verizon.

I only need to make a couple of calls so I plan on NOT purchasing the WIFI onboard, (Celebrity) But plan on calling home or texting from a port.

Turn Off Cellular Data

Turn on airplane mode.

Turn on WIFI calling.

Find a WIFI hot spot on the island (Western Caribbean)

Call and text? All good, no charges?

Yes, except for your purposes it's redundant to turn off both Cellular Data and put the phone in Airplane Mode. Once in Airplane Mode, all cellular communications are off, so you can omit turning off Cellular Data and you will be fine.

The last time I was on Celebrity, they had a small Apple sales operation, as well as classes on their ship (the Silhouette back in 2011)....not sure if they still do, but if so, you can ask the Apple person for technical help....
