karstic Posted November 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2005 How is the order of embarkation determined? Is it by cabin number, deck number, luggage tag color, zodiac sign, tallest to shortest?

Women and children first.....:) Seriously, first come first on. As soon as you complete the parperwork and get your cruise card, you can board. As soon as you complete the parperwork and get your cruise card, you can board. Thats not what I remember last year. We sailed out of San Pedro and waited around a couple of hours before being allowed to board. The passengers were boarded by groups. And we weren't the first one. gatour Posted November 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2005 We just sailed on the Carribbean and it was definitly first come/first services. The only exceptions was there was a seperate line for the platinum travels and maybe for the full suites(can't definitly remember the later)

We sailed out of San Pedro and waited around a couple of hours before being allowed to board. The passengers were boarded by groups. And we weren't the first one. You are right about San Pedro. When we sailed the Diamond last year we also had to wait and they called by deck. This year in FLL we arrived at the port a bit early, 11:15 am and were about 1/3 of the way down the line when they opened the doors at noon. We were in our cabin by 12:25 pm so it took all of 25 min to go through security, check in and get cruise cards, on the gangway, the obligatory embarkation pic and up to deck 12 to our room. FLL has San Pedro beat hands down for both embarkation and debarkation.
Cruisin' Chick Posted November 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2005 I can't understand why embarkation would be that way. Unless they are trying to escort groups to a deck at a time. If we got there at 1 and had to wait for a bunch of others to arrive on the Caribe deck before we can board, we wouldn't be too happy. Disembarkation by decks makes more sense. kryos Posted November 20, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2005 FLL has San Pedro beat hands down for both embarkation and debarkation. Now my mileage has definitely varied. I boarded the Island Princess in San Pedro last April and couldn't believe how hassle-free boarding was there. Got to LAX. Princess reps were right there. Got my luggage and waited maybe about 15 minutes. Here's the bus. Got on bus. Got to pier in a reasonable amount of time (okay, the bus got a flat and had to stop at a maintenance depo for the tire to be changed ... but this was done rather quickly). Once we hit San Pedro, it was off the bus ... a short delay (of my own making) to have a cigarette before going into the terminal (because I assumed there would be a long line in there). Got in the terminal and it was one station to the next to the next. No waiting other than for the obligatory boarding photo. I think I was through the terminal and onto the ship in about 20 minutes tops. No lines whatsoever at any station, including security. No such luck on ANY FLL embarkation I've been involved in ... either on Princess or HAL. Blue skies ... --rita
wdblake Posted November 20, 2005 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2005 On the Sun they did it by deck. You can request an earlier debarkation time from the pursers desk. We did and got of an hour earlier.
