Foggy Windows on Norwegian Dawn "SJ" Family Suite Cabins??

This "foggy problem" seems to be an issue on the Norwegian Dawn for the "SJ" Family Suite Cabins.

Has anyone had personal experience with this?

Both the STAR and the DAWN are troubled by that.

Each has 24 suites on deck 12 forward.

The Dawn has 10 SF and 14 SJ cabins - the STAR has 4 SF and 20 SJ.

The SF cabins are the ones with balconies - the SJ are without the balcony

creating a larger more family like space.

 

Each of the SJ cabins has 4 huge floor to ceiling double panel insulated

glass windows. Over time some of the insulated panels have been breeched

and allowed to form a cataract like intrusion limiting the viewing.

 

One would think that with the recent dry-dock of both these ships that the

glass issue would have been fixed. BUT it was NOT !

 

When I transited the Panama Canal the folks next door had only 2 of the

4 windows viewable NCL STAR Cabin 12016 bad bad !

 

From what I understand of the history the area where these suites are

was formerly the Spinnaker Lounge with lots of viewing windows. NCL

made 24 suites in this area and moved the Spinnaker to deck 7 aft.

In the middle of the open space 18 IC inside cabins were installed *

* some of the quietest and most hidden cabins on the each ship.

 

When these windows will be replaced is uncertain - most everyone

thought with the dry-dock that it would be taken care of - WRONG !

 

Check with YouTube for possible photos of your intended cabin

reservation. Another source is CruiseDeckPlans and of course here

at CC.

 

The SJ cabins on both ships are considerably less expensive and

for a family on a budget are perfect savings +/- $1000 to $2000 for

a suite with butler and concierge.

 

A solution to the lack of balcony - just go up one deck (13) and you

have almost the whole forward deck as your balcony.

 

But having obscured windows is a bummer and if NCL persists in

offering cabins with this defect - a fare adjustment is certainly in order !
