Water vs regular taxi to Philipsburg

Hi. We are a group of six, with an overnight stop in St Maarten on the Equinox. On the first day we arrive at 3 pm. If we want to go into philipsburg for a couple of hours only I know water taxi $6-7 pp. How much for a van/taxi? I'm thinking it might be more cost effective and quicker. We have a tour booked with Bernard for day 2.

I'm not sure what a land taxi costs. However, town really is within walking distance unless you have any in your party that are mobility challenged.

The water taxi is $4 one way or $7 for an all day pass. We were able to walk to town in well under 20 minutes. If you need a taxi to go across the island, they are available right outside the port area so don't take the water taxi.
