Back to back excursions

Hello, going on a 10 glacier bay cruise followed by 15 day Panama Canal. The 10 day ends and the 15 day begins in San Francisco. Those of you who have done back to backs. Would it be possible to get off the ship in San Francisco, go on an excursion and get back on the ship without going through the checking process at the port. (Never done a back to back, not sure what to expect.)

Thanks

I haven't done a B2B on NCL but I have on another cruise line and that would have been easily doable. As soon as the ship was cleared, we were escorted off and had the whole day in front of us. We turned right back around and got back on the ship and loved having the entire ship to ourselves for a couple hours. :D But, there's no reason we couldn't have spent the day in port exploring (which we would have done if it had been someplace we haven't been to many times).

In a word -- YES.

We were on B2B on Jade last year in Greece and our turnaround day in Venice we were given tags to wear. We could stay on, get off or do whatever. We walked around for a while and got back on and used our UBP. During the safety drill someone came around the pool area to make sure we had our tags on. A wonderful deck party with the "Staying ON" people.

That does not apply to US ports, in US everyone must be off the ship for the authorities to clear it. One can either just leave like they would do on a regular port of call or wait until the B2B group is gathered together, signed out of the ship and then back in.

I presume that you are on the same ship. Do you intend to do an NCL shorex? If so there will not be a problem. Otherwise you will get an "In Transit" sticker which will allow you to get back on board without checking in. Whatever though you will have to go through security as you would at any other port to get on board.

You will have to get off the boat and go through Immigration whatever you intend to do.
