No balcony rooms available, but guarantee balcony rooms are?

Just had to switch my sailing date from May 6 to May 20. I had a balcony room for the May 6th. But, the May 20th said they ran out of balcony rooms or at least that option isn't available. But they did say they had guarantee balcony rooms?

 

Am I missing something here or LOL? I ended up booking the guarantee but..HUH? Whats my chances of getting a regular balcony room and not an obstructed :confused:

We booked a Guarantee Balcony (3 weeks out from sailing) on a recent Explorer cruise and instead of an E3 we were allocated a D1, great room.

A booking site I use shows the only balcony cabins left are D2/D7/D8 Superior Balconies with no DO Obstructed available so it looks like you will be fine.

Did you call RC and ask? Often the website does not list all the rooms available.

my completely unscientific guess is thus: people who have already booked balconies of whatever level will be first on the list bumped to higher category cabins to make room for any new GTY balcony bookings.

 

which means yes, people currently assigned to a low category balcony may very well be given a better one and all your GTY folks will get those lower categories.
