Hi all!

Me and 2 of my friends (all 18) along with my parents are booked on Celebrity reflection best of western mediterranian july 10th and are wondering what the nightlife is like, we have researched the drinking policy and me and my friends will be able to drink as long as we have permission from our parents which we do have but are unsure about the nightlife and age groups, we would like to know if as 18 year olds we will fit into the nightlife and have a good time with other people around the same age as us if there is any???

We have sailed on crystal cruises before so we know not to expect much from nightlife as on crystal its mostly dead since the age groups range from 50+ on there

Thanks!

There's usually something every evening in sky bar and there's a nightclub but I've never seen it busy. We're martini bar fans and that doesn't normally shut til late, we've been there upto 3am before. Silent disco will happen at some point and a deck party. Unfortunately it's difficult to know how many others around your age will be onboard until you get onboard. Sign up t the roll call for the cruise if you haven't yet and see who else is travelling.

We took our 18 year old son on a Reflection Med cruise last summer. He had a great time after meeting others of his age group. They spent their late evenings in the Sky Lounge where there was dancing with a dj. He told me that next time he would find friends as soon as possible rather than waiting a couple of days. Since there are three of you I'm sure you will be able to get things rolling quickly as others will likely want to join your group.

There were plenty of people in my sons age group on board for a June cruise and since you are in July I would expect there to be more as EU countries generally end school at the start of July.

We also allowed our son to drink and he was very happy about that. We were in a suite so he had access to drinks from Michaels club but did not have an alcohol package which I think we would get for him next time. On one sea day we saw him and some friends, along with some older adults, all in a hot tub by the pool enjoying the music and a beverage. When onshore he was also allowed to drink which made lunches in the various restaurants pleasant too.

Be respectful of others' vacations and I'm sure you'll have great cruise.

On a summer Med cruise you will find other people your age also cruising with their parents :) We did a Celebrity family Med cruise when my brother was 21 and I was 26, and there were many families on board with adult children. We found most adult children (late teens/20's) kind of stuck with their parents since Med cruises are so port intensive, but as a previous poster said since you already have a little group formed others will probably join you. On port days it will be pretty quiet at night since there are a lot of early morning in the Med. Sea days people will be out more having fun and staying up later ;)

Have a great cruise! Cruising the Med. with your family will be awesome  And I agree that the martini bar had the most activity.

If your ship is departing from the US, you will not be able to drink on the cruise. It doesn't matter if your parents give you permission. It's the law. There are other departure ports which changes the rule.

Your sea pass card will identify you to all bar tenders as to whether you will be permitted alcohol. Also, your picture will be displayed at each bartenders station when he swipes your card *so you have to use your own).

What is Celebrity's Alcohol Policy? The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on Celebrity Cruises ships sailing from North America is 21. The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on Celebrity Cruises ships sailing from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is 18. In certain circumstances where local laws permit or require, Celebrity Cruises may modify this policy which may also require parent/guardian request/authorization. Guests may contact Guest Relations or refer to Celebrity Today for specific minimum drinking age information on their cruise vacation.

Regarding the departing from the US and not being able to drink, this must be dependent on the cruise line. I have been on both carnival and Norwegian, and each time 18 year olds were allowed to drink once we got one to sea. Say it is illegal all you want, but I have seen it on 4 of my cruises. For some reason though, they could only get beer and wine- or so it seemed.

I think you are correct. The cruise lines impose their own rules for 18+ when in International waters regardless of the country of departure. The laws of the country whose waters the ship is in apply when not in international waters. I read that there are only 12 countries with a minimum drinking age of 21 with the USA being one.

On Celebrity, if departing from other that North America, you are only allowed beer and wine if under 21.Celebrity follows the drinking policy of the country of embarkation.

The drinking policy on the website states that if the ship is at ports where the drinking age is 18 you will require your parents permission to drink, it does not state if only wine and beer so I would suppose it refers to all kind of alcoholic beverages

X is not known for nightlife or good entertainment.

I've read quite a lot about that but I've also read quite a lot saying that there is some, even if the nightlife might not be as intense as in Royal Caribbean cruises for example.

We have been on Celebrity cruises when there have been only 4 couples at the late night dancing in the Sky Lounge. On our last, it was really hopping. So it varies between the cruise. There is a big difference between the energy level on Celebrity and RCL.

They are on a Med cruise, so they will be able to drink, so long as their parents give permission. When our daughter was 19 or 20 we did a Med cruise. Celebrity's policy is that for sailings leaving from Europe (and South America, I believe), passengers between 18 -21 can have alcohol so long as their parents sign a consent. We couldn't buy my daughter a beverage package until we got on board and signed the require permission, but it all worked fine.

To the OP - my girls were 17 - 20 when we took them on their first Med cruise on Celebrity. They had a blast. Because it was summer, there were many others on board in their age group. During the days we were off in port exploring, but in the evenings they always found something to do and found others their age. Unfortunately they do not have the Quasar night club on the Reflection (sad for me, too, as we are sailing on the Reflection next month and we always had fun in there!), but there are definitely night time entertainment venues. Some will be busier than others, and even though many get up early the next morning to sight see, there are still those of us who like to stay up late and have fun!

True true, then again Im only hoping for the Martini Bar or some other venue to be sorta full at night along with the casino and hopefully the deck parties to also meet others my age, since it is a Med summer cruise Im guessing there will be a lot more activity, not expecting the drunkards you'd get in RCL or Carnival, me being one of those drunkards hahaha

Agreed, Really expecting for there to be nightlife with people my age then! And well we also plan to go to bars and clubs during overnights off at port
