State room allocation

We are booked on the Crown Princess leaving Southampton 27th May. We had originally booked a cabin on Caribe deck but cancelled and rebooted after a substantial price drop. It was my understanding that we'd been booked back into the same cabin but on checking my booking it states we now have a guaranteed category B2 cabin to be assigned. But the B2 cabins are now sold out so my question is -what happens to us?

Thanks

A GTY......Usually can be/assigned sometime/anytime up to a day or 2 before your cruise. Very rarely assigned at the pier. You can access bag tags/travel summary on the Princess cruise personalizer on the Princess website up to sailing day. The cabin assignment will be noted there.

Sometimes people think it was assigned at the pier but had they checked the personalizer the night before their cruise they may have seen the cabin assignment at that time. Hope this makes sense.

Just because it says sold out does not mean they won't have a cabin for you. Princess keeps cabins behind the scenes. They have been doing this forever and have it down to a science. You will have a cabin.

It's very possible that Princess is in the process of assigning cabins to Guarantees and offering upgrades so you will get at least a B2 cabin or they can still assign you an upgrade. Be patient.:D.

Thank you. Just have to wait and see.

Am I correct in assuming that we won't get a state room in a lower category?

You won't get one in a lower category. You will get one in the category you paid for or higher if you are lucky. Keep checking your cruise personaliser (where you print out the luggage tags etc) to see if allocation has been made.

You may be offered a stateroom in a lower category. If so, you will be offered a deal to take it, and it would be up to you. On one cruise, we had an outside guarantee and we were offered an inside - with 80% of our fare refunded. We liked the deal and took it. If we had not accepted the deal, they would have offered something to someone else until someone accepted it.

Princess will not downgrade you involuntarily. You will get the category you booked or better - unless you voluntarily accept a deal for a lower category.
