jdemps Posted April 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2017 Most of the ship is dead at 10pm. You gotta make your own party like we do! We are night owls and end up meeting the other 20-30 people onboard that like to stay up late, go to the club, enjoy the live music, etc and end up hanging out a bit. I would rather stay up til 3 than wake up at 7 anyday...lol
cruisenovice2017 Posted April 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2017 Who the hell goes to bed at 10 while on vacation? We'll be on the Elation soon so I guess we'll have the dance floor to ourselves!

Exactly what we think on every cruise!! lol I can't even believe they leave the clubs open with the number of people in some of them. Maybe everyone is in comedy, casino or other shows late night but I suspect they are in bed and waking up at 6am. ick

I started cruising in the early nineties and I was younger so I stayed up to 3-4 in the morning in the disco besides back than the demographics were in favor of the younger guests now with more families on Carnival cruise ships there are older guests. Things change. Gary
evandbob Posted April 17, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2017 The last (adult) comedy clubs and the casino are usually pretty active up to midnight or 1AM on the ships I've cruised lately. Other venues, not so much.
cruisinqt Posted April 18, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 18, 2017 I've never seen a Carnival cruise with no night life or being "dead" after 10 pm. Princess was dead after 10 pm (for us) but never Carnival. Try the karaoke bar, piano bar (everyone sings along and it's sooo fun), the late night adult comedy, or the clubs which are going strong into the wee hours of the morning. :)
bobbismith Posted April 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 18, 2017 I have been on cruises that were deserted at 10/11. The casino bar stays pretty active. Sent from my VK810 4G using Forums mobile app
mrpayroll Posted April 18, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 18, 2017 We have walked by some piano bars at 10 pm and seen less than 10 people in them. Depending on the piano player.

We are in our 40/50 and stay up to 11 or 12, while our teenagers come in at 3 a.m. When we were in our 20's and first started cruising, we were out til 2 every night. The second determinate is YOUR ITINARY. Sailing from Galveston, we tended to stay out late as we only had 3 stops on a 7 day cruise. We are sailing the Southern from San Juan and based on previous experience, we will go to bed a little earlier as we will be up early for excursions as we have 6 different islands to explore. cruisinqt Posted April 19, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 19, 2017 I think the nightlife also depends on what time of year you're sailing. We've always sailed during summer or spring break when schools out because of our kids. So the ships sold out and it's full of young families which tend to stay up late. That's why the ships never dead late at night when we sail. But for those who sail off season when the ships not full and there are less young people I could see things being a little dead late at night. I guess that's why there's discrepancies in people's experiences. But there will always be the late night adult comedy shows which I highly recommend. They are really very funny. I'm curious to see how the cruise atmosphere changes when we cruise in July versus when we've gone in the winter when no kids were out of school. There will be tons of kids on the ship. So forget about getting in the pool or hot tub. Gary
famof4togo Posted April 19, 2017 #17 Share Posted April 19, 2017 I agree that it totally depends on the specifics ship demographic which can obviously vary cruise to cruise....last month we were on a Spring Break cruise and the entire ship was dead at 1am...but other cruises on a more "off season" have been popping until 3-4am...so IMO its the luck of the draw....but like others said...we tend to find a few like minded couples and we party late into the evenings with them and make our own fun..... Gary lol - the pools and hot tubs are full of pee and bacteria - would never get in there anyways! I just hope the bars aren't overrun with little kids.
