FCD OBC and timeframe

My husband and I did an Alaska cruise last summer (2016) and bought 2 FCDs while on board. I understand that these and the associated OBC should be used within 4 years. Due to some family circumstances, I don't think we'll be able to cruise again till the fall of 2020. I can probably BOOK the cruise within the 4 years which the FCD covers, but am wondering if the OBC will still apply if the cruise itself is outside the time frame. Has anyone else had any experience with a similar situation? How was it handled by HAL? Thanks.

As long as you book the cruise before the ending date on your certificate, the shipboard credit will apply to your fall cruise.

If you miss the dead line to book your cruise, then your deposits will be credited back to your charge card.
