4 people in a room booked early saver...drop to 3?

Is it possible for a room booked Early Saver with 4 in the room, one drops out. Can you do that and only suffer the one person penalty?

Yes. You only pay the penalty for the one who cancels. I did that 2 years ago with DD who was thinking that she would go with us and then dropped out.

Just realize that there will the possibility that Carnival could then move you guys to a 3-person room if they need your 4-person room for someone else.

Easier to just do a no show. Not even that much more expensive with the refund of taxes and any prepaid gratuities. And you won't have to deal with a possible room change.

We had 4 booked Early Saver and dropped down to 3. We'd booked under a $75 deposit so they charged us $50 and gave us $25 as a future cruise credit. Those numbers can obviously vary based on the rate/promo that was booked. I did everything over the phone so they "looked around" for a 3-person room, said we'd be fine to stay but they reserved the option to move us if they needed. We ended up adding a different 4th person later, same room.

this happened to me. got hit with a 125 penalty. really hate giving away money like that.

Just remember that under ES there is a $50 penalty for cancelling (assuming that they are before final payment). The remainder of the deposit will be held against a future cruise and will not be applied to this one.

Then they are good. They booked during a $50 deposit sale, so they put $200 for 4 people. One won't be going, so if they only lose his $50, then they are good.

 

Do you know if they re-price the remaining people at "today's" rates, or do they just drop the cost of the 4th person in the room?

It depends on how much your deposit was.

If you booked during the $50.00 deposit sale, you would just lose the $50.00

If you booked during the $75.00 deposit sale, you would lose $50.00 and then have $25.00 left to apply to a future cruise, within 2 years.

No matter what the deposit was, you lose $50.00 and balance is a future cruise credit.

The cost for the remaining three will go up, however, because there are now only three in the room so each of the remaining folks will have to pay more for the cruise.

in my case, i paid a $50 dep. when my daughter had to drop out, i was assessed an additional $75 penalty. i lost 125, with no future credit.
