Prepaying Excursions with self contributed OBC - for a Canadian

Since excursions for '18 must be prepaid, has any Canadian tried contributing an OBC and then having that used for prepayment?

 

Or, if the rate for the cruise when booked was $1.30 Cdn. are all purchases at that exchange rate.

 

We don't get the generous OBC Americans discuss.

 

Time is on our hand but as our dollar continues to sink, it will be quite important.

Our dollar does not "continue to sink". Our dollar has been very strong lately. It currently is at $1.22. I would not buy OBC at $1.30. In fact I won't buy anything at $1.30. As a matter of fact if Princess does not change their rate soon they could start losing business.

You're correct today, but at the time I posted it was sinking.

 

And yes, it would be foolish to purchase OBC at $1.30.

 

As I understand cruise lines adjust rates 'from time to time' resulting in both advantageous and horrid rates as currencies fluctuate.

Do you have an update on the Princess currency exchange rate?

A while ago someone posted this chart on CC that I find helpful. So when prices on the Princess website end in .70, the exchange rate is 30%. That's what they are today.
