May 24th, Bermuda Day?

So I recently realized that our ship will be arriving in Bermuda on the morning of "Bermuda Day" May 24th. Our original plans for the first day in port were to grab a cab or mini bus in the morning to Horseshoe Bay Beach, and spending the entire day there.. Would Bermuda Day screw up our plans at all? Traffic? Road closures? I'm not interested in seeing the parade, or watching a marathon.. just would like to do a nice beach day. Any input/advice/info would be appreciated! :D

Mini buses and taxis are privately owned vehicles, so it's up to the owner/drivers if they want to work and make money that day or take the holiday off. I suspect many will be working because cruise season is when they make their money, but fewer than on a normal weekday. On the holiday there is a surcharge of 25% on 1-4 passenger and 50% on 5-7 passenger taxi fares. I'd also expect beaches to be more crowded than usual as Bermudians consider Bermuda Day the start of their summer beach season.
