Getaway Transatlantic, Most Mishandled Cruise Ever

I didn't really see the Captain this cruise except in the distance at the M&G and the Latitudes Party.

The latitudes Party was ****e what a joke. Full on Sales with the captain and his team disappearing after about 5 minutes.

And as for the Latitudes "free bottle of water" as mentioned in the Latitudes reward. One bottle 500ml of water to last 16 days. I at least thought it was one a day.

The $100 pp OBC we should be Thankful we got that....,NCL didn't have to give us anything...,,,,

For missing 2 ports, not able to get off the ship in Brest unless you opted for NCL Excursions, arriving in Southampton late where most attractions closed after 5pm. We should have been given $100 for each of these port days.

Arrival in Rotterdam the night before was good for a drink off the ship but again no attractions were open past 6pm here either.

Where do the posters come from on this board that are part of the apologist party for NCL.

Why the sniping? Why the inane criticism of we, (my comrades) who were stuck on admittedly poorly organized cruise?

Was "Team NCL".......even on the cruise in question?

Or do sit somewhere and think "Oh, I love NCL, and won't see them hurt?"

Crikey! It was a disaster. I deal with it. You should as well.

Cheers

Hell if I know. But my point is, if you were on a cruise, lived on a cruise, ate on a cruise..........

don't tell me it was jolly lovely (because it was on NCL) unless you were on the same cruise.

If folks approach these critic sites with obvious bias, why write? I think the vast majority of

people look to this site for information. No spin. And no company spam.

My husband and I were both very much on that cruise 11236 . My cruise, my opinion ,

we got off in South Hampton and made our Tour to London and got to see everything we were promised. We made it back to the ship around 10:30 pm.

We know that nothing is promised on a cruise,we also know how to go with the flow and enjoy time with friends on the cruise.

We choose not to waste our time waiting on line complaining ! Instead we used that time to enjoy the ship and all it had to offer !

May I just ask one simple question?

Does anyone read their cruise contract before you cruise? You must because without signing it, you can not check in or board the ship!

If you did read the contract why is anyone complaining?

The $100 pp OBC we should be Thankful we got that....,NCL didn't have to give us anything...,,,, and if any of you trying to bring a lawsuit...... good luck with that ......You signed a contract

Problems can happen , errors is something else.

But keep on defending ncl ,they are happy with people who think that everything is normal including lying .

I will keep defending NCL,how to you know

that they lied? because someone else told you something different then what you were told? I'm done with this, do what you want be

dwell on the negative and let it consume your everyday life.

I choose to look at the positive, but that's just me..... we all have choices. Have a great day enjoy every moment while we still can. Life is too short to worry about things we can't control....

It's really funny how people wander the a ship everyone they encounter the same question. And when they find a discrepancy between the response they get from the deck crew to the toilet cleaner to the waiter, all of a sudden there is a conspiracy and lies on the ship.

(Me, I'm going on a free 16 day cruise, in a balcony whenever I choose, in the future. Write to NCL, be honest, be rational, and they will replace that cruise. Just so's you know.

Cheers)

Have they in fact replaced this cruise for you?

I wrote and all I was given was some onboard credit when I book a future cruise.

Please let me know whom at NCL was so generous to you.

Thanks

Fake news, why would NCL give away a free 16 day cruise? for what and why?

P.S don't believe everything that's on here

They will give you future cruise credit or total refunds. Recent NCL cruises I was on, due to Azipod issues I was given (all people on the cruise not just me) 20% future cruise credit for two changed ports, next cruise 100% future cruise credit plus $1000 US refundable onboard credit, for missing nearly half the ports, next cruise $500 onboard refundable credit for one changed port only and the Azipod was actually fixed for this cruise. So NCL do give credit towards another cruise. Other cruises I wasn't on got total refunds, plus future cruise credit, onboard credit and free shore excursions. The three cruises I was on were all far superior to the TA we just did.

This cruise it looks like they are giving to people on an individual basis. I met people onboard who had already been given onboard credit above what I received- $100. Some threatened to get their credit card charges reversed if they didn't get compensation. As I didn't complain or ask, just accepted what came my way I got just the $100.

I didn't complain or visit guest services. As you said, life is short and this cruise was 16 days of my life that I definitely won't get back again! Yes I like to look at the positives too, but there were just too many negatives. Hard to look at the glass half full when it's empty. I always remember the first day being told I couldn't go through the first entry as that was for the disabled. I was made to take the second entry which was entering through the ugly, smoky casino. I remember thinking as I coughed and wheezed my way through- 'well I wasn't disabled when I embarked, but my lungs are definitely disabled now.' And that was my introduction to this cruise- hardly impressive! So different to my first cruise on the Pearl 2007 where there were balloons, champagne, staff to welcome you onboard and the wow factor of the atrium. I remember how impressed and excited I felt.

Another thing that happened/ laundry ruined one of my dresses and I was asked to fill out a liability form, listing the value etc. I never heard back from them again once I'd filled it out. I'm assuming now this form was to absolve them of liability as they rang my cabin repeatedly, at least five times to ensure I filled the form out.

Another thing, not so much about our cruise, but I'm pretty sure this is the Captain's first cruise on a mega ship as I can remember at the Q&A on the Spirit last year he said he didn't want to work on the big ships as he prefers smaller. After the Spirit he went to the Gem and this was his first cruise on the Getaway after the Gem.

On the sailing after ours a friend of mine was told the Captain thought the ship was too big to take through the Archipelago which was one of the reasons why the Stockholm port was changed. NCL is still selling the Baltics cruise listing Stockholm when the Getaway in all likelihood isn't probably going to go there this season.

I know people are lodging claims as they booked the cruise advertising the Stockholm archipelago, after NCL knew they weren't going there. I'm interested to hear what future cruise credit or compensation they'll get.

My cruise, my opinion ,

That's also applicable to the people with different perspectives.

I'm sorry, but replying to every single post saying NCL is right is not in line with your statement quoted above.

Maybe you should all agree to disagree [emoji12]

Contracts has nothing to do with mistakes and lying, if ncl do nothing to compensate their customers they lose money in the future.

I can choose and i will , Celebrity and Royal Caribean are happy with my booking and ships like Quantum and the Ovation of the sea are very nice to cruise on.

Quantum we did a flawles TA on last year streaming internet great shows super food and service.

Thinking in Ovation next year New Zealand.

Options enough if NCL shows no responsability and is not interested in their clients who did 20 over cruises .

I complained the night before as a British citizen that I would refuse to wait 4 hours in line. The Hotel Director got us to the front of the line and we were out in 30 mins :D:cool:, even snuck a few American friends with us and straight to the pub.:*

Hey, good work!! Wish I could have joined you after my 22 minutes in the train station. I applaud your moxie.

Cheers!

Seriously? You are having a go at me for semantic games? Pretty small. Actually pretty tiny.

Dock not land. Ship not boat.

Wow, pretty light hit. Let me guess: Retired Teacher or Retired Account?

Update your "I've sailed on........." It doesn't include Getaway 2017.

And thank you for your input.

none of the above, I just know what terms to use when cruising thts all.

If you would do your homework and exspan my signature you would see that the Sailing is there!

Who is saying something here about light hitting? Aren't you doing the same about what sailings are or are not on my signature? Thank you

Definitely not a retired teacher- the grammar police would have a field day if you read some of her past posts which is why I didn't get why she criticized others, particularly as she likes to be positive, so not logical enough for an accountant.

People in glass houses- just saying!

My guess is sales!
