Just off Anthem 9 day, the good + the bad mini-review

Recommended Posts

Thank you for the reviews--we will be on this itinerary in July. For the Solarium Bistro--do you remember if there were vegetarian options? I have seen a menu, and it doesn't look like one is listed? I would think they'd accommodate upon request but surprised there wasn't one on menu.

Any chance anyone did trapeze school? It is the main thing DD wants to do and I'm trying to get a sense of how many times it will be offered.

Thank you for the reviews--would also love to see compasses if you have them!

I just got off the 5 night on Thursday. My daughter and grandson did the trapeze. When you see it posted in the Cruise Compass go to the seaplex and they will give you a wristband and a time to come back. On the 5 night they had it on the 1st day and 5th day. There were 5 thirty minute sessions of 10 persons each on both days. It was nice that you didn't have to stand there and wait your turn in line, and could go and do something else until it was your turn.

That is correct. The solarium is in the very front, in the middle is the indoor pool (they open the ceiling on warm days), and more towards the aft is an outdoor pool.

I've been on Anthem 10 times, and have never seen the glass roof open in the indoor pool.

We just came off the Anthem and I overheard someone ask a crew member when they open the roof. The crew member said never.

Probably a good thing, as a movable top could be a high-maintenance issue...it's nice that you have a choice of indoor or outdoor on the ship...

I can't understand why they spent the extra money to build it, if they aren't going to use it.

Is it just a covered roof? The solarium is pretty warm and just wondering if the indoor pool is covered with roof and walls. Just wondering if it makes sense to use the indoor pool if it's 60 degrees or if it's best to hang out in the solarium.

Sorry if it's a silly question. I never knew anthem had an indoor pool and the only kind of indoor pool I know is the solarium. That's where I hung out for part of my Alaskan cruise

Unless, you have a previous one that you can exchange at GS. Had a Quantum WOW and traded it in for an Anthem's.

one huge reason i'm trying anthem is because i thought it IS a cold weather ship. i had a less than perfect time on Breakaway in december but i need the lower winter prices and from all my research. anthem is a good cold weather ship but you are saying the inside isnt so great?

Been on the Anthem twice last year, once in May and the other Thanksgiving week. It was fantastic for the November cruise when it was cold outside. The weather was bad for sailaway so they allowed children in the Solarium too. The roof was closed for the entire time during the May cruise for the middle pool area, and it was unbearably warm as was the Solarium. The temperature was comfortable for both areas during the winter cruise even when we were in Florida and Bahamas. Loved those areas! Certainly much better than Breakaway, which is our least liked ship!

I see you were on the Sunshine What did you think of the Bar Service on there? I was on it 10/16 to Canada and 20-30 min to get a drink in the Piano bar. As far as the Anthem was this your first BIG ship?

On the Sunshine I had my favorite bar tender's at the casino bar who never made me wait ;) a $1 tip definitely goes a long way, they earned every bit of it.

Anthem was the biggest ship I've been on to date, looking to try an Oasis-class ship! It's just so hard, we usually travel in a very large party (20+ people) so the flights tend to get expensive.
