Solo Traveler Suggestions - Majesty Next Week

Recommended Posts

I am traveling on Majesty of the Seas as a solo traveler next week. I've also never been on a cruise before. Any suggestions? I honestly have no idea what to expect and don't want to eat dinner by myself every night. Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to eat dinner by youself, try to get a large table on one of the traditional dining times. You can speak to the crewmember at the entrance to the dining room, as soon as you board.

What type of dining are you signed up for, traditional 5:30/8:00 or my time. I used to do my time, until needing a gluten free diet made set time easier. I'd go to the check in area and line up near folks of my age, no kids:), then ask for a large shared table. Often that group would get along great and we'd end up together each night.

Being solo you can stay to yourself, or be more outgoing and join in activities. In the windjammer I would ask to share large tables, most folks are friendly, if not that's their problem. In the casino women playing slot machines love to chat. I've done at least 15 cruises as a solo and always had a great time. Be flexible and don't take unfriendly people personally.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

I agree that traditional dining, which I think is what you have, would be best. It looks like you have second seating. Make sure you requested a large table, or confirm at the dining room when you board.

Sign up for the roll call for the meet and mingle for your cruise. Look under Rroyal Caribbean roll calls here on CC.

If you like things like trivia make sure you go to trivia a little early and join a team.

Enjoy your cruise.

I cruise solo all the time and LOVE IT! On a few of my cruises I have friends come along. But all in all, cruising solo is wonderful!

If you are an outgoing person - you will have no problems at all. For dinner, if you do not want to eat alone - eat in the MDR. Even if you do My Time Dining you can ask to be seated at a table with others.

Thank you so much for your suggestion! Right now 8:30 was the only available option for dining because I booked late.

I would show up, maybe early afternoon check out where your table is. If by chance its a table for 2, which isn't likely, you can asked to be moved to a bigger table. That should be easy to accommodate for one person. Enjoy, this is a nice little get away cruise on a nice ship.

Glad you mentioned that, I have no MTD experience.

Your actual table assignment should be on your Seapass card when you check-in. Just go to the Main dining room on embarkation day and confirm your table location and size. Once as a solo cruiser they assigned me at large table with two families which was very awkward. I spoke with the Maitre'd after dinner the first night and he reassign me to a table with other singles. Again if you aren't happy with your table mates see the Maitr'd and see if he/she can re-accommodate you. It's their job to make sure have a great dining experience. I've been on many cruises solo and always had a great time. Enjoy and please come back and let us know how it was.
