hondo1717 Posted June 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2017 Hello Friends, Have a question.. We are having a difficult time deciding whether to go on a Cruise (4/28/18) Alaska 7 days out of Seattle or wait until May 19th for a cruise which leaves Anchorage and travels to Victoria BC. also, a 7 day cruise. Both are on Princess. The other part, is we could also take a week in Hawaii the last week in April... My questions for those who have traveled to Alaska either late April or very early May. Is it worth it? Do you still see as much? Any help would be very much appreciated....
caribill Posted July 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2017 Before the end of May ice conditions may not permit some of the glacier viewing. I would not take an Alaska cruise before the end of May to avoid disappointment.
VibeGuy Posted July 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2017 In general I prefer the linehaul sailings (Vancouver to Whittier or vice versa) as they have longer port times. The upside of an April sailing is that you won't have six other ships in port with you, which improves Ketchikan and Juneau immensely. The downside is a higher risk of not being able to call in Glacier Bay, which really is the best reason to sail to Alaska.
