Georgia Hills Posted July 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Hi, This will be our first time cruising out of Jacksonville. We will be staying at the Quality Inn near the airport and would like to know what to do near the motel or port. Also need to know if there is a wine store near the port. Thanks! Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted July 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2017 The Zoo is great, or Budweiser tour.
DanMan86 Posted July 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) The zoo is a great idea. Its fairly large and has a lot to see. The port doesnt have a lot around it but in Florida you can buy wine at any grocery store. Edited July 3, 2017 by DanMan86
hrhdhd Posted July 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2017 St. Augustine is nice, but it's more than 20 minutes away. Atlantic Beach is close if you want a taste of the beach. The port is north of the city near the airport, but it's not particularly close to any attractions.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Will you have a car? Zoo is about 6 miles away. Bud brewery about 4. There's a mall just off I-95 about a mile from your hotel. If the hotel has a shuttle, you might be able to head there. Movie theaters, typical mall chain stores and restaurants (but Green Papaya is usually very good). Some other places, mostly chains on Yankee Clipper Drive closer to the airport. There's a Publix a short ways down from the mall before I-295. Jessixleigh Posted July 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Kingsley Plantation is further down Hecksher Drive if you are looking for something historical, and it's very pretty there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
