cruiseerf Posted July 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Hello Celebrity Cruisers: We booked the October 5th Millennium cruise from Tokyo to Shanghai years ago. It sold out almost immediately and we have been holding this itinerary. Final payment is in a few weeks. QUESTION.....When we inquired on our last cruise about more cabins becoming available on the Oct 5th cruise we were told by the cruise sales office that this cruise has been chartered? Does anyone have any information on this? Do they charter cruises right before final payment? Are we in trouble here? Thoughts?
BSinPNS Posted July 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2017 We were similarly concerned for our cruise on Millennium in February. Had our TA check with X and they said it wasn't. What happened there was a large group the basically bought out the open inventory and sold it, so technically not a charter. No probs with the group. NantahalaCruiser Posted July 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) Interesting that there is no current chatter regarding a possible charter on your roll call thread. Everyone is still busy signing up for shore excursions. I looked at three online TA sites: 1 says sold out, 1 says call for prices and 1 does not list the cruise. Recommend you call Celebrity, perhaps a Captain's Club representative, and ask them to confirm whether or not it is chartered. If you have already made non-refundable purchases, such as airfare or private shore excursions, you should probably ask about compensation. Best of luck Edited July 13, 2017 by NantahalaCruiser
cruiseerf Posted July 13, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted July 13, 2017 So far....Captains club said not chartered but full. however onoboard our last cruise a week ago they were telling everyone that Oct 5th is CHARTERED......Perhaps to sell more cruises or perhaps they know something we don't? Still awaiting some sort of official confirmation.

Fish Lover Posted July 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2017 On board future booking people rarely have accurate information in my experience It would appear from all the other (more reliable sources) that a group purchased any open inventory, so the cruise is fully book. That would explain the online booking attempts as each online TA chooses to treat unavailable cabins differently (ie: fully booked, cruise removed from display and/or telling the potential customer to call for availability) results mentioned above.
