Check in time VS FTTF time

For my upcoming cruise it was at the 165 day point... Such an arbitrary number that I have to guess that it actually is arbitrary.

No problem. Keep checking and maybe ask in your roll call if anyone has been able to select it yet.

Heh heh.... funny thing: there is no roll call for our cruise. Weird.. maybe it's a phantom cruise? But like I said, I'm not concerned since we're in a suite but will check our booking now and then to see if the check-in time option appears.

bUU: you're probably right about the arbitrary timeframe. ;)

Well maybe you have the ship all to yourselves! When is it?

Yeah, I didn't think final payment was a factor but I know some have said it is. Anyway, you're probably right about the window not yet being open for our sailing (early next year). Thanks! :)

Correct on both issues. Check-in time option will appear out of the blue one day in "Manage My Cruises" regardless of final payment or final payment date.

I check often. Though I have FTTF I want to choose a check-in time that closely matches my estimated arrival time.

I'm about to cave and purchase FTTF. (Please no debate on if it's worth it in this thread! I just have a specific question that needs a specific answer.)

When I place FTTF in my shopping cart on Carnival website, it states in bold black wording...Time:12:00 PM - 01:00 PM. There's NO other information after that. Just that time frame showing.

Now my regular check in time on "Cruise Details" section in my booking is for 11:00am to 11:30am. I do realize this is only check in time and NOT boarding time.

My question is...Is this FTTF time 12-1pm check in or boarding time? It just seems strange that the FTTF time would be AFTER my original listed check in time! Can anyone clarify and explain?

You can check in at any time but what a waste of $$$ for FTTF .

When you do finally print that luggage tag the FTTF shows as a large round logo on your tag.

Thanks. It hasn't updated yet to reflect the FTTF on the luggage tags, so i'll periodically keep checking the reservation over the next few months in case I change my mind and decide to check a bag.

Carnival's FAQ's state that the option to pick a check-in time will appear at 6 months prior to your sail date. Judging by what people have said, it's appeared for some a little before the 6 month mark, and for others a little after the 6 month mark. But it seems to be a good reference point to start looking. We're at just over 330 days out and I keep hoping the system will glitch and give us the option to pick now. :D

I want FTTF but we have 2 families in 3 cabins and first I have to convince everyone it's the best way to go.

I guess you missed that part of my original post! ;p

Unfortunately, no, many don't miss things like that being said. Some would just rather rock the boat (no pun intended).

I've noticed that and try to stay out of the debate threads (but will gladly read through them as they can be a source of great entertainment.)

As far as FTTF, i'm just glad I got it after wavering on it for months. Never had it before and if after my cruise is over I say to myself, "Boy, what a waste of $$$"!, at least it's MY personal learning experience, and since it breaks down to just $15/day for a 4 day cruise, I feel it's worth trying out.

Damn, now I just broke my own thread rule of not debating it! :o

Last year was our first cruise and we didn't get it. Honestly, when it was all said and done, I thought we probably wouldn't ever get it in the future. But one thing I didn't know, until well after the cruise, was that FTTF included the priority guest services line. When I saw that, I thought man, that sure would've been nice because I had to go two or three times and there was a pretty long line each time. This time we're taking a lot more people (8 of us total) so I've given a lot more thought to FTTF. It's the other family's first time and we're hoping they enjoy it as much as we do, so for starters, I thought the perks of FTTF would help make their experience that much more special. Mainly, I was thinking about the fact that we're going to have a lot more carry-on bags this time, up to 8 of them, so immediate access to our cabins would be very helpful to avoid dragging all those bags to lunch on embarkation day. If I can't convince everyone it's a good idea, I might buy it for everyone or, at the very least, buy it for our cabin so we at least have a place to put all the bags when we board. I think that alone would be worth the cost of one.

I agree. 8 people lugging carry on bags in an already crowded lido deck, if you all go for lunch before cabins open, won't be fun. Getting at least 1 FTTF to throw all those bags in makes it worth it imo.

I was going to just arrive at 2pm and walk right on the ship, but with 11am check out at the hotel, I decided it'd be nice to just head right over after check out and walk onto the ship rather than having 3 hours milling around.

And i'm going to most likely need to go to Guest Services soon after boarding to make arrangements for Special Needs Muster Drill, and i'm sure at that time it's going to be crazy busy with lines, so this is also where FTTF helps me.

There's no tenders on my sailing and i'll have no checked luggage, but I decided for $60 bucks to have early boarding, cabin ready, and priority Guest Services line, it's well worth it.

Hell, i'm going to be throwing away over 5X that into slot machines and probably get nothing back but carpal tunnel from pressing the reels hundreds of times! ;)

Go ahead and get it for you then if they don't want it because they don't see the value, just wait to see the look on their faces if you both need to go to GS and you get to go to the short line while theirs reaches all the way to the theater [emoji23]. You can get your stuff handled, then go eat, take a nap, go down the water slide, or watch a Dive In Movie and then come back to check on them. They should be just about finished by the time you arrive [emoji41].

I bought it for priority tendering to half moon cay. Last time I went we didn't get off the ship till after 11 with a 7am arrival, no chairs, no umbrellas. I also will spend way more than that in the casino as well
