lakada Posted July 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2017 We are interested in a beach to visit for couple of hours. Not interested in food or alcohol. Any ideas?
jas283a Posted July 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Mr. Sanchos. We wanted the same thing. Taxi driver recommended (and had seen good reviews on here). Have an a la carte area with just beach and sand, showers and restrooms. We had someone set us up in a covered area with the expectation we would order food and/or drinks from him, but free otherwise. Can pay as you go for certain things if you'd like. $17 cab ride each way for all 4 of us. Had a great time. jas283a Posted July 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Forgot to say we did get food (kind of felt obligated) and it was good, though a bit pricey. It and cab ride only expenses. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
JohninDC Posted July 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2017 The beach clubs need to make money somehow - either by charging admission, renting chairs/umbrellas, or selling you food/drinks. The non-AI side of Sanchos (suggested above) or Paradise Beach are likely your best bets. PB charges a $3 admission/lounge rental fee and asks that all guest spend at least $10 on food/drinks but IMHO offers better facilities than Sanchos plus a HUGE pool. Both will be about a $17 cab ride each way from the piers - the fare covers up to 4 in the cab, so pair up with others on your roll call and save $$ Money Bar is closer (about a $10 cab fare each way) and offers great facilities and good snorkeling from the shore, but no real beach, There is a sandy area for sunning and relaxing; no admission fee, but it is expected that you will order some food/drinks. Rare crewsweeper Posted July 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Which ship, which pier? There are public access points all along the westside beaches. You'll need to bring your own towels etc. By law/custom, all beaches are free on the island. When you go to a beach club, you are paying for their services. There are places inbetween where you can go and not be hassled. But if you want to use any facilities gonna cost. Look up Sunset Beach. it's the beach between Punta Langosta , the downtown pier, and the two southern piers. Walkable to for either. Locals use the area. Decent snorkeling. There is a Diving Shop/ Bar-Restaurant there, used to be called Sand Dollar, but I don't recall if they charge admission, just paying for food and drink or snorkel gear rental. k_y30 Posted July 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Paradise beach is great. $20 cab ride from carnival pier and $3 to get in. The beach is NOT the best though and there are a lot of locals around (no big deal). The pool is nice the only problem is there's a bunch of rocks in the water where there beach area is but there is a dock where you can walk out past that stuff and get in the water. Also, they don't hound you to buy stuff, we bought one drink and hung out for a bit and went back to the boat
