travelnteach64 Posted July 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Hello Everyone! We are excited to be taking off the on the Oasis next month. I've read some side comments in reviews about the air conditioning in regards to the balcony door, and how the handle should be kept while on the balcony. My DH loves it cold in our rooms, and I don't want to jeopardize a good night sleep by accidentally raising the room temp. Can some one please fill me in on how to keep the door unlocked but the AC still running. Thanks!
Rare OCSC Mike Posted July 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2017 When you close it, make sure to turn the handle all the way to seal it shut. This is what lets the A/C run. There's no traditional lock per se. Hopefully you have a better experience than we did in June. We kept our balcony door shut and curtains drawn the entire cruise (DW's parents booked the cruise, we don't actually use our balcony) and for the most part could never get the room anywhere close to cold. This led to some uncomfortable nights sleeping. We went back alone last week and our interior room was quite cold. We also found many parts of the ship (especially the hallways) to be significantly cooler than in June so maybe they've improved something. Biker19 Posted July 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2017 It may not have to be "locked" but the door has to be closed enough for the AC interlock to activate.

az_2_nc2013 Posted July 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Also, make sure that you leave the master switch on the entire cruise- it controls the air! We thought it was a light switch and turned it off leaving the room, and couldn't figure out why the room wasn't cooling! Thankfully, our room steward filled us in on the first day. DH and I prefer to sleep in cooler temperatures, and with the switch on and the door closed, we never had a problem with the temperature!
