Spurschick Posted July 26, 2017 #51 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Please don't use a lanyard. It is a very bad look. Use a small keychain and keep it in your pocket. That's fine if you have a pocket. If I am wearing a skirt I don't have that option!
Spurschick Posted July 26, 2017 #52 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Fanny packs are making a fashion come-back: http://nypost.com/2017/03/27/fanny-packs-are-making-a-comeback/ Agreed. My DH can't stand my old style one so I bought a nice Vera Bradley one. He dislikes that even more :')
MamaToMany Posted July 26, 2017 #53 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm a newbie and I'm going to ask anyway! ;p What do you do with your Seapass card (on a lanyard or not) when you go in pools, hot tubs, etc? It's just going to be my son and I, and I'm not sure what exactly to do with things like that when we are planning to get wet. Do you leave them on a chair? That doesn't sound like the greatest of plans to me. Be gentle! Thanks!

If on lanyard I wrap the lanyard round the side of the deck chair and put the clothes or towel on top I always find a deck chair within sight of where I am. No problem if the card gets wet, but don't get sunscreen on the card because that will remove the ink.
Lmm79 Posted July 26, 2017 #56 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Slightly off topic but the seapass card sounds similar to a magic band at Disney. When I charge on that it requires a PIN. Is that the same for the seapass?
Cloudsipping Posted July 26, 2017 #57 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Was on the anthem last week. Lanyards were being sold in the waiting area before getting on the ship at a kiosk like the one in the photo above. I think they may have been 5 dollars, possibly 10. I heard a kid shout "mom they are only X amount" so I don't remember for sure. They were quite colorful and varied. On board the ship, a family member bought one in a gift shop for$ 8.95 it was pretty basic and came with a plastic sleeve. we had been told that staff at guest services or the casino could punch a hole in the card so it could go on a lanyard ring, but staff at both places refused, saying it would ruin the card to do that. So make sure you get a lanyard with a plastic sleeve. if you are worried about taking it in the pool, wmart sold a waterproof one near the jewelry counter/ladies purses for $4. Cloudsipping Posted July 26, 2017 #59 Share Posted July 26, 2017 I never needed a pin for my sea pass card. I had a beverage package, and they just swiped the card or tapped it for drinks. Other items i bought i just had to sign for.

It's only on Quantum class ships and Harmony that you will not be able to get holes punched in your Seapass card as those cards use RFID technology. On all other ships first services will gladly punch a while in your Seapass card.

Johnamac123 Posted July 26, 2017 #62 Share Posted July 26, 2017 I got a lanyard similar to those sold at the cruise port. I liked that the card detaches easily for scanning. I couldn't care less if anyone onboard thinks it makes me look like a doofus. It's practical and works for me.
frenchcanrican Posted July 26, 2017 #63 Share Posted July 26, 2017 I love my lanyard. About 7 years back for the holidays I bought all my female family members that cruise a designer label lanyard made out of leather and fabric. To this day those ladies use the item on the ship and at their work. The one we have can carry the ship card, a CC, and several bills all without others seeing this "other stuff". When in port I slip it under my shirt or jacket and my money and ID are safely attached to me. I love the lanyard. alfaeric Posted July 26, 2017 #64 Share Posted July 26, 2017 If people say they are not bothered by lanyards, then why go through the trouble of telling others they shouldn't have them? MY opinion thinks they look just fine, and I know my opinion is the most important one. ;) It's awesome that one feels so compelled to tell people what not to do, and then claim that they don't bother them... Something doesn't add up in that logic. If it doesn't bother you, then there's no need to worry about others. Maybe I'll add a 3rd to my neck. Wear the WOW band there next time we have one. geomancer Posted July 26, 2017 #65 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Where I work, every single person is wearing a lanyard. Every single one, every single day. Over 2000 of us. So I don't even notice them anymore.

ProbablyRachel Posted July 26, 2017 #68 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Why would anyone carry a purse, all day, around a ship? Especially when hot-tubbing and swimming! Sent from my SM-G920P using Forums mobile app I WISH I could go without a purse around the ship! It would be liberating, unfortunately I have to carry medical stuff with me 100% of the time. But I still wear my seapass card rather than stick it in the purse to dig out whenever I need it. I'm a big fan of the zip-style clip lanyards that I just clip somewhere on my clothes. I occasionally carry a tiny one, for dinner or the casino, but a purse just for my S&S card is a bit much. dd likes to cruise Posted July 26, 2017 #71 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Please don't use a lanyard. It is a very bad look. Use a small keychain and keep it in your pocket. That is YOUR opinion! I'm might be a newbie, since I just started cruising in 2015, but I've been on 5 different lines for a total of 8 cruises and on those the majority of people have used the lanyard. Of course I did not do a scientific survey on the percentages, but it is a lot. Don't make those that want to use a lanyard feel like a goof ball or weirdo.
