Carry on baggage to ship

We've always carried all our bags onto the ship? Am considering letting a porter take our big bags . Is there a limit in size to carry on ourselves?

It has to fit through the luggage scanner. If its too big, they will send you back through the queues to check it in with a porter. The machines are the kind you see in airports and wont take full sized suitcases.
