Carnival's promotion change schedule

Looking at cruise the second week of Oct. 2017, currently priced at $699pp. But Carnival doesn't have any decent promotions going - while Norwegian is giving away the whole nine yards.

I'd like to get the free beverage package, ideally, but a better price on the cruise or more onboard credit.. it's just that right now they are basically higher priced than competitors any offering nothing.

When does Carnival change their promotions? Is it typically at the first of the month (so in 5 days) or is it just at random times?

Recent trends suggest that purchasing early brings the lowest price and CCL seems to have gotten away from any real promos other than reduced deposits. I can't think of a time where I have seen them offer serious OBC or a drink package. You might be better on another line if the rate is better considering what you would spend on drink package.

Carnival for example was about $800 less for a balcony and an inside in Dec 2018 than Princess. But then Princess ran sip n sail and now if we assume we would buy the drink package on Carnival it is a wash.

I remember Carnival was running chain-wide drinks packages a couple of months ago when I was looking last. But I also know cruise lines tend to rinse-and-repeat their promos every once in a while. Just thought I'd get the board's take.

I booked an Oct Carnival cruise but not through Carnival direct. After checking the Carnival website my particular agent though a credit card I "discovered" was offering 10% cash back. Every bit helps!

Which ship are you looking at?

I see your next cruise is on Imagination from LA. Assuming that is what you are looking at for the second week of October (since Carnival has limited west coast offerings), I see a premier cruise offer on Imagination on October 8th. Do you qualify for casino offers? Premier cruises come with free "drinks on us" while playing in the casino. If you are a casino player, you might inquire whether you qualify. I just got my mailing from Carnival on this new round of premier cruises yesterday in snail mail.

I just booked for Oct. 8 on the Dream. From conversations with my PVP, the ship I am on is quite full (I got one of the last balconies). Carnival appears to be experiencing strong bookings so customers should expect a minimal # of promotions. Good for stockholders, not so good for people looking for a great deal especially on "Pack and Go" fares.

I have never seen a drinks package promo from Carnival that wasn't tied to a Casino offer. Details, please and thank you.

Thanks, how do I look for a premier cruise?

The one I am looking at is the Vista out of Miami on 10/7.

I was already looking at cruises that week ("fall break" for school) but then a buddy invited us to his wedding on the Vista and now we're pretty set on going on Vista.

I agree, however the Carnival loyals will never accept this as fact and impossible. This is why I sailed NCL last year and will be again in 2019. Carnival offers the worst deals, loyalty program, and the least perks of just about any major cruise line right now. I sailed the Vista in April but Carnival would have to bribe the hell out of me to step aboard a ship like the Sunshine without some OBC and a free drink package. I got a free drink package for my wife and I for our 15 day Panama Canal from NCL. Cheers on Carnival would be like $1700.00 Hahahah! Nope .....
