FPJC03 Posted July 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2017 We will be on the Konigsdam for the 10-day Southern Caribbean cruise in January. First time on HAL after being on Celebrity, RCL and Regent. Will there be early shows for the late dinner patrons? On the other ships, there were usually two shows scheduled, one usually at 6pm for the late diners and one at about 8:30pm for the early folks. If there is only one main show, we might want to change our time to early seating. Have almost always done the fixed times for dinner, since we like having the same wait staff and the same dinner guests to get to know them throughout the cruise. Have had good luck with that about 80-90% of our cruises. Thanks for all advice.
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2017 There is a show at 8 PM for the early dinners and a show at 10 PM for the late dinners. Shows last about 40 minutes.
RMLincoln Posted July 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2017 Often the first night has only one "show" at 9:30, a time that works poorly for just about everyone, IMO, but they didn't ask me. It's usually an introductory show of the CD and some of the onboard musicians, plus the singers and dancers do a number or two. Maybe someone can report from a recent cruise. The late shows are usually sparsely attended; the early shows may be quite full and you could need to get there ahead of time to get a seat to your liking. Just my experiences, YMMV. m--
shrimpboat123 Posted July 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2017 We were on the Koningsdam in the Caribbean Nov/Dec 2016. The showroom is smaller than on the Signature and Vista ships. Therefore, they typically had three shows each night at 7:15PM, 8:30PM and 10:00PM.
colonialinnkeeper Posted July 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2017 The theater on the Koningsdam is absolutely wonderful with fantastic surround digital screen that is more than 180 degrees and enables different kinds of entertainment. The sound is really great as well. Sight lines are wonderful too.
Dismomx5 Posted July 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2017 We were on the Koningsdam in the Caribbean Nov/Dec 2016. The showroom is smaller than on the Signature and Vista ships. Therefore, they typically had three shows each night at 7:15PM, 8:30PM and 10:00PM. That was our experience as well. We did the show at 7:15, had a leisurely dinner, and then meandered after that. Looking forward to our re-visit on the Koningsdam in January 2018.
Rare POA1 Posted July 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2017 You may find that there's an earlier showtime on your cruise. We've been on two cruises with an early show for late seating.
colonialinnkeeper Posted July 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2017 That is one of the things we loved about the Koningsdam--the choice to sometimes go to early show (we always do late traditional dinner seating) so we can choose to do something else after dinner. Or, if it has been a really busy, strenuous day--retiring after dinner. Also loved Lincoln Center offerings for music but thought it was an odd place to put it as the piano bar next door sometimes interferred soundwise.
