Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 14, 2017 Author #152 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We got showered and dressed for dinner early tonight. I wanted to take DW up to show her the views and we tried to take a picture together however the wind would not cooperate. The other reason we got ready early is so we could go and watch the pier runners. We had our drink and found a chair to sit next to the window. We were watching and this poor woman was having a very hard time walking She ended up wiping out on the concrete. Relaxing wondering why people wait so late to board the ship
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 14, 2017 Author #153 Share Posted August 14, 2017 The ship next to us and ours were scheduled to depart at the same time. Here is a couple videos of more people running to the ship UHtcNvUtN4s And then the Norwegian Gem was gone. Shortly after this golf cart pulled up with people who were suppose to board the Norwegian Gem and missed their ship. Its hard to see in this picture but there was some sting rays that were surfacing after the other ship left
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 14, 2017 Author #154 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We were moving now and we started making our way towards the dining room. We stopped along deck 5 to sit in the comfy chairs and look out the window. When I took this pic my phone did some weird black and white things but looks kinda cool There was a lighthouse Tried to get a picture of us and the lighthouse but with the sun it would only pick up one or the other We could see the Gem out in front of us

TX Trucker 71 Posted August 14, 2017 #158 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Thanks for taking the time to post all the pics and videos. It got me reminiscing about our last cruise, back in April. Same ship and itinerary. In Nassau, the wife and I walked around on our own. Once we got away from the annoying hair braider/taxi/trinket/drug seller area, we found most of the locals were very friendly. Even had a Bahamian lady swap a few local bills for my dollars, in a tucked away pharmacy.
LHARTWICK Posted August 14, 2017 #159 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a nice review - I love the way you focused on the positives instead of any negatives! You and your wife are a precious looking couple! I was wondering where you got the banner on your cabin door - did you make it? I would love to have one like that to use on each cruise. Thanks again - we sail on the Freedom in October. We've sailed on some of her sister ships, but this will be the first on the Freedom for us. Thank you....we always find it hard to find negatives when there is so many positives especially when you are on a cruise ship. We made our banner at Shindigz.com You can change colors and add artwork and whatever wording you want. The original cost was 14.99 but when I did ours they were doing a special for $5 off banners. I thought the price was great and is a very nice product. You will love the Freedom

Markmom18 Posted August 15, 2017 #164 Share Posted August 15, 2017 I am really enjoying your review. I'm the Mom whose son is on the Fun Staff that you'll see on your November cruise. I showed him your photos too! He's excited! IDK if he'll remember your faces, but have fun playing trivia for me, that is my favorite thing to "do" on a ship, sounds corny writing that .....:D:D

Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 17, 2017 Author #171 Share Posted August 17, 2017 After watching the pier runners and the sights of sailing away we made it dinner and here was the appetizer portion of the menu The port of call menu as well DW started with the canelloni....this was very good and a good sized appetizer I had the conch fritters and I did not find these that good....it could have been since I had the local ones in port that day they did not even compare I also had the peach soup which wasn't too bad DW had the cream of brocolli and it was very brocolli
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 17, 2017 Author #172 Share Posted August 17, 2017 We decided to try the ox tongue....I highly recommend this both DW and I thought it was very good...it was very tender Next up the entree part of the menu I had the port of call choice the carribean pepper steak...this was very tasty DW had the salmon cake in which she thought was good...I am not that much of a salmon person but she enjoys it I also had the linguini with sausage...this I would say was subpar DW also had what Chip our waiter referred to as the KFC special...the fried chicken....she thought it was decent
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 17, 2017 Author #173 Share Posted August 17, 2017 I forgot to take a picture of the dessert menu so I am going to do my best to recall what these items were. DW had the smores parfait I had a mango cream cake this was the sugar free option and I felt all the sugar free options were actually very good in flavor We both had this which was like a cinnamon roll with some sauces And of course I had my butter pecan ice cream
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 17, 2017 Author #174 Share Posted August 17, 2017 After dinner we headed over to the show in the theater which was 80's Pop to the Max. The show wasn't too bad but was not our favorite. After the show we headed to the Atrium to listen to Phoenix the musician. I totally forgot to put meeting Phoenix at the beginning of our review so I will give you a little recap now. The first night after comedy we ended up going to the Red Frog Pub where Phoenix was playing....we listened for about a half hour and after the show he came over to talk to us. We got to talking how we were teachers and he was finishing up his contract and going to become a music teacher. Crazier thing so his girlfriend was on the cruise with him and she was a teacher as well. Did I mention earlier there was teachers everywhere haha. Throughout the cruise we would see Phoenix and say hello or stop by where he was playing he is a very talented young man. So this night was the same we had time to kill so we got a drink and found some chairs to listen to him sing. Talking to some of the crew members is always amazing to hear their stories and they also give you good hints about things on the ship and in ports. We stayed there listening to music until the late night comedy show in which we went and enjoyed. Since it was a sea day the next day we decided after the comedy to go donate some money to the casino and then it was off to bed. Our port days were over and now it was two days of relaxation ahead.
