shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #76 Share Posted August 10, 2017 One final picture of the train. Angie, Jeff, Susan, and I then climbed on the local Seward shuttle. The City of Seward operates a shuttle running around town, which is free! Downtown Seward Jeff and Angie wanted to look at a few shops. Susan and I found a candy store, we got a couple pieces for after lunch.

shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #82 Share Posted August 10, 2017 A Good picture of Jeff and Angie! This is an animal recovery area they have. These two Sea otters were abandoned by their mothers. The Sealife Center is nursing them, helping them recover, and then eventually releasing back into the wild. shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #84 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Can I get some butter with that? A mural across the street from the Sealife Center. We were waiting for the shuttle to come, but a taxi dropped some people off at the Sealife center and we asked if He could take us to the small boat harbor. All four of us piled in and off we went. BTW, it was $5 for the cab ride.
shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #85 Share Posted August 10, 2017 As we ride to the Visitor Center, I get this wonderful shot of the Norwegian Sun for the first time. We arrive at the small boat harbor and visit the Kenai Fords Visitor Center. Not much there, but helped me understand the park better. we catch the shuttle here, and head to the ship. I think someone is excited!
shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #86 Share Posted August 10, 2017 We enter the Dale R. Lindsey Alaska Railroad Intermodal Facility to check in. We part ways with Angie and Jeff since they are first time cruisers and we are latitudes members. Check-in is a breeze compared to Seattle or even Vancouver. We got to the podium and go through the payment card, the picture, health disclosure, and everything else. The lady says let me get your ship cards. She turns around and asks someone else a question, they come up and tell us to follow them. We are totally confused right now. As we are walking, it clicks, we got VIP status. They print the key cards and have them at the VIP table. We get to the table they welcome us and hand us an envelope with the cards. They introduced us to a young man who was going to escort us onto the ship. We head towards security and I find my card is not there. We have to go back and have them print me a new card. Then we head back towards Security. Susan is super excited and she doesn't even know what VIP status is. We clear security and head out to the ship with our escort. Here is our boarding photo! we exit the tent connected to the intermodel facility and see this!
shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #87 Share Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) After climbing up the gangway, we scan our cards, get the "washy washy" spray, and meet Joaquin Dumipig, the Concierge on the Sun. He escorts us to our stateroom. Explains we can go to a special VIp breakfast each morning from 730am to 930am in La Cucina Restaurant (Deck 5 mid) and VIP lunch from noon to 130pm daily also in La Cucina. shadowmeboy Posted August 10, 2017 Author #89 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Let's explore our stateroom for the week! A note about our stateroom: We sailed in this very stateroom almost nine years ago on our honeymoon cruise. Susan and I enjoyed our time in this stateroom then and I wanted to celebrate nine years sailing our favorite ship again. We also got a $25 onboard credit to use at a restaurant of our choice. We already had the 4 nights of specialty dining, so we decided to celebrate, we would go that night to La Cucina. We hadn't planned on going to that restaurant when we made reservations. VIP Cocktail Party, why yes!

shadowmeboy Posted August 12, 2017 Author #91 Share Posted August 12, 2017 Our stateroom was as far forward on deck 5 as you can go. 3 words - Dead End Hallway. This equals extra quiet stateroom! Looking down the hall towards the atrium from outside our stateroom. Since I set up the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet for our sailing, Susan and I had invitations to deliver to staterooms of those who shared their room number by email. Susan, the creative one, made that. Isn't that cute? Lets begin a ship tour! walking towards the atrium on deck 5 past the forward elevators. pictures on the forward stairwell between deck 5 and 6. Shadowmeboy, what time were you able to board the ship? We are doing a back to back from Vancouver to Seward and back on the NCL Sun and since she leaves Seward so late, I'm curious if we'll be able have lunch on the ship or need to find something in Seward. Thank you again for the wonderful review!

Thank you again for the wonderful review! We arrived in Seward at 1115 and got to the ship at 230ish. They had started boarding at 11am. You should be able to eat on the ship, but there are some good eats in Seward to consider. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
