Fern Crest Posted August 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Is it possible to get a room for the day at one of the hotels on the beach and use it as a sort of staging area until we need to get to the airport around 3:00 pm? Some will want to nap, some want to swim, some will sight-see, and I'm sure food will be involved a few times. Think we can do this, or are we doomed to either lugging our bags around or schlumping in the airport all day?
capriccio Posted August 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Other cruisers have used the Rodeway Inn and Suites where you can reserve a day room in advance. It is no where near the beach but does have a pool. Recently a couple of cruisers have been able to get a day room at The Riverside Hotel on Las Olas (a much nicer hotel in a great location) but they don't take reservations in advance - you have to call them the morning you want the room. I would also suggest doing a search on this board entiled "day rooms in Fort Lauderdale" for more information and impressions of both hotels. Another alternative to shlepping luggage is to use your cruise line's luggage valet program. Your luggage is picked up the night before disembarkation and you don't see it again until you arrive at your home airport. There is a fee for the program. Then you are free to use local tranportation (taxi, uber, water taxi) to visit the beach and/or Las Olas Blvd.
Fern Crest Posted August 13, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Thanks! I did a forum search for 'day rooms Fort Lauderdale', and got a bunch of great hits! Glad to see some hotels realizing there's even more money to be made from us tourists! ;)
