NCL Escape Vibe Question

Heya.. First time cruiser here and have been reading all I can..

Ship boards at 4pm.. Do you really need to be at the front of the boarding line at 11am in order to "race" to headliners to get a pass? Like waiting 2 days in line for front row concert tickets?

Is my first 10 minutes on the ship going to really be like a race and stressful trying to run there and find headliners? Because this is what I am picturing..

How many passes are available on the Escape? Do the "vips" get first access to the passes?

The ship boards in this order Haven, Ambassador, Platinum plus, Platinum, CAS VIP's and then the rest by boarding numbers which are first come first serve so that is why many arrive early before the doors open at around 11-11:30pm. It is reported that people have had to make mad dashes to get one of the 100 passes available. With all those folks going ahead of those that get boarding pass #1 it may be possible that they can be sold out if you are not one of the first to board.

Or I hope all the VIPs are not there the minute the doors open and there is a small chance for the little people?

Oh for sure. Probably a good third of the people boarding won't even know the Vibe exists, and two-thirds of the rest wouldn't be interested anyway. Of those left, say half know enough to go pick up the pass right away.

The problem is, with 4000 passengers, that still leaves 450 passengers for 100 spots.

(I know the numbers are completely arbitrary. Just saying that even though you're not competing against the entire ship, there's still almost always more demand than supply).

Why would Haven people even need Vibe? Don't they have their own private deck as well?

Because there aren't kids in Vibe. To give you an idea, we got to the terminal in NYC at 9:45, got boarding number 24.

In addition to those already mentioned, B2B guests, special needs, and wedding parties also board before general boarding begins.

It isn't a question of "need" for Haven guests just like it isn't a question of "need" for anyone else.

Someone could say "Why would anyone need VIBE? Isn't there already an adult-only sundeck (Spice H2O)?"

VIBE is the only adult-only and exclusive sundeck on the ship.

The Spa is adult-only and exclusive but is not a sundeck.

Spice H2O is an adult-only sundeck but is not exclusive.

The Haven has an exclusive sundeck but it is not adult-only.

Nobody "needs" VIBE but everyone can want VIBE if they desire....but not all will get access.

The best way to increase your odds, minus Haven or Latitudes status is to show up early (before the terminal even opens- 9:00-9:30) When through the security scanners and check-in, head up to receive Boarding Group 1 or 2 (Same thing because there are 2 terminals.) Once that is secure, your greatest chance is to just hang out by the rope where the actual boarding will begin. Once they drop the rope, it's just a quick dash on board and down one flight of stairs to Headliners... Good luck...

So basically the answer is.. get there early and try but everyone else has priority over you and most likely we will not get one

When your a Haven guest they escort you to the restaurant. You don't have to go but by the time the conseair was done talking and answering questions there was folks all stacked up trying to grab the Vibe passes.

I am sure you could take off in the middle of all this as a Haven guest but it probably looks rude. I know my wife would crack me one if I did.

I was not really looking to grab them anyway but I did find it funny seeing the madness.

I was thinking about it for my next cruise in late OCT we wont be in the Haven. But knowing me I will probably not even try.

I have seen it were there were not many folks waiting in line and I am almost always part of the early crowd .

You are free to not go directly to the Haven. You can tell the escort and go directly to Headliners/Guest Services.

Or....you can ask the concierge for a VIBE pass. He/she will probably have a few or will call down to secure passes for you (neither tactic is guaranteed).

The best option is to use priority boarding and get them yourself.

When we sailed in July, we were not priority boarders, but did just as Sid mentioned. We arrived at the port early and were in boarding group 1, then made the mad dash to Vibe when we were allowed to board. It was fun, we secured passes, and IMO it was every bit worth the mad dash!
