What are the other choices if ship is unable to get to Cozumel because of weather?

Depends on a few factors. From which direction or previous port would you be sailing from.

 

Progresso, Honduras, Belize and Costa Maya come to mind but there are other variables.

I think you're sailing from NOLA, so they could turn left out of the river and go to Jamaica. Otherwise, Progresso would be about it. I doubt they would go past Cozumel as the weather would prevent it.

We had a Miami - Key West - Cozumel itinerary changed to Miami-Key West-Nassau due to Hurricane Paula in October 2010.

 

We weren't told until about 2 hours after leaving Key West, although I had already guessed where we were headed as the ship turned toward the Bahamas as opposed to Mexico when leaving Key West.

you also could have a cruise to no where.just cruising in the gulf
